June 14, 201312 yr This amazing program changed everything in FSX! Simply awesome! Thank you!!! I notice that every once in a while (could be updates), all of a sudden the aircraft yaws due to severe "shift" and clouds pop in and out with a complete and sudden change of cloud/weather configuration (I use FEX). I thought I setup as per manual and forums. Any obvious suggestions? Thanks! FSX W7x64, i7 2600, GTX680 etc... Flying a 2 Seat Static GA Simulator out of CYYZ.
June 14, 201312 yr Commercial Member Just the same old answer. Set Adjust Options Automatically and Adjust Sim Friendly GRIB Data options. Always specify your Destination and Max Cruise Altitude, then update the weather. If you still experience problematic FSX wind shifts then set the Use Maximum Stabilisation, but only if you cannot live with the wind shifts. Most users do not suffer from wind shifts, the FSX bug still produces them, but they have no problematic effect on the aircraft. FSX always repositions the clouds during a weather update, to minimise the effect set the Cloud Smoothing option. There is also an option to Stabilise GRIB Data but you only want to set this as a last resort. Please refer to our Wind Shifts topic on SimForums for a details of what is going on inside FSX. Also note no software can position the clouds, that is all done by FSX each and every time the weather is updated. Stephen :-)
June 14, 201312 yr Commercial Member We are also working on some changes to the GRIB mapping with the hope of smoothing the changes to the upper wind and temperature changes during weather updates. This may help reduce the appearance of any annoying wind shifts even further on those systems that suffer from this FSX fault. These changes if successful will be introduced in a beta. You may like to consider using the beta and you will be most welcome to take part in the beta development cycles. The current one is primarily aimed at the Flight Planning Assistant, these changes will also improve the future upper wind and temperature averages within the OpusFlightReport.txt file. You may find the SimForums Announcements, Coming Soon, Wish List, and other topics of interest. Regards Stephen :-)
June 14, 201312 yr Author Great info Stephen! Thanks so much! I will test and check with your suggestions here. Still a small learning curve of familiarization for me here with Opus, but not far behind now. Would love to be a part of the Beta testors (did so with AS2012). Thanks again Stephen. Great product! Great Service!! Flying a 2 Seat Static GA Simulator out of CYYZ.
June 15, 201312 yr Commercial Member The new posted Release Version 3.10.2 is newer than the Beta at the moment, the Beta dev will continue very soon with 3.10.3. Stephen

June 15, 201312 yr Author Well it seems when I purchased last week, it was v3.0.0, so realizing this today, I downloaded v3.10.2! I assumed the latest purchase would also be the latest version-lol! It pays to read the instructions in detail and the forums. Great now thanks!!! Flying a 2 Seat Static GA Simulator out of CYYZ.
June 15, 201312 yr Commercial Member The Purchase wrapper always contains the very latest 'release' version. I posted Release Version 3.10.2 this morning. Stephen Ignore the SID and STAR Reports window in release version 3.10.2, this is 'work in progress' ready for a near future upgrade. Stephen
