  1. Sounds like even the latest system will perhaps still give problems with settings close to max eh Jim? It's that old FSX 2006 platform! I noticed that ASN also eats a lot of system resources. Same with Opus, so I found that FS Global was just perfect. I can fly in full IFR bad weather into LAX (no pop-ins) with REX4, NE CA lights and Aerosoft LA and still get 20 FPS smoothly. DXT5 and DXT1 only. Texture Max Load 1024, 512 clouds, smooth as silk now!
  2. Was also getting bad performance but changed ASN to FXGlobal and that made all the difference (simple wx interface, no pop ins, very steady). I have all REX clouds at 512. And NO TEXTURES in FSX sim over 1024 (even airport adds). DX9. Make sure you have REX SP2 and the new updated Texture set. I now use "SimStarter" for startup profiles-freeware). IMHO a Game changer!
  3. With REX OD E skies, the sunsets seemed to sometimes have these gradient stripes. I would have to always play around with the contrast, brightness and vibrance settings in nVidia control panel. The distant clouds would appear ghostly, patchy and cartoon-like. I had to constantly lower brightness/contrast to rid them as the sun set, but scene got way too dark. With REX 4 Textures (skies), the sunsets seem perfect and the sky fades smoothly with clouds visible and realistically just get darker. Apparently the sky textures are taken from real photos etc...The overall lighting is so bright and contrasted as in real life. A fantastic improvement and so incredibly realistic! A game changer for me! Btw...I'm using a single projector for my outside the cockpit view not a monitor. Epson WXGA PowerLite1760W
  4. It seems to have changed my whole experience! Lighting effects, better contrast and brighter skies. Smooth sunsets (no more stripes and lines). The sun size seems perfect and sharp with blinding light! Runway lights from distance and on taxiways are more realistic. I even dumped FEX clouds for the full REX Direct Textures. With FSGlobal it's perfection!
  5. Here's what seems to work for me... Set texture install options as usual in REX E OD (no clouds checked, no weather set) Set install options in FEX to cloud sets only. Install REX 4 themes (they now ignore the REX cloud sets and seem to be using the FEX clouds). FS Global holds the weather very steady with little or no pop-ins etc...(still too many with REX weather). REX 4 has incredible water and sky sets!
  6. Can't select which options to install or not install in REX 4. eg) use FEX cloud sets not REX 4, or not want to use REX 4 runway lights. No option boxes to tick as in REX E OD?? REX 4 seems to override these choices. Any recommendations?
  7. I also use FS Global for weather inject. Much less popping clouds (REX still crazy) and horizon lines etc... I think we still need REX E if you want to choose what to install eg) turn off REX weather, or clouds (this was my concern above).
  8. Merry Chistmas all! Ok so now that I have both REX E and REX 4, how do I turn off Options such as clouds? (I use FEX for cloud sets, I like much better than REX clouds). There is no GUI for choosing texture install options in REX 4? If one removes REX E, then by default ALL REX 4 texture options would be installed, no? Confusing! I agree, should have been an update. Seems REX will be breaking it all down to components and then charging full money for each? Welcome to 2014-lol!
  9. Using VoxAtc for years. Vectoring problematic indeed in mountainous terrain. Need to learn SID/STARS. If vectored to ILS and in IFR bad weather, with Vox one is blind anyway so must depend on ATC or choose alternate, no?
  10. I understand it's lovely, but nothing appears in FSX Orbx PNW scenery. Do you see it at all in your FSX?
  11. When I fly out of KORS Eastsound WA, I notice the airport W49 Rosario (just south) on the GPS yet there is nothing there in the scenery. Has anyone else noticed this? Thanks, Ken
  12. Did that flight to KDFW last night and had plenty of traffic. I was vectored into the pattern and could see all the movements in and around airport and even at the other local airports (KADS) etc... But had to "clear aircraft on approach" as UT2 aircraft were entering the active runway on landing (pita)!-lol!
  13. I use UT2 without the UT2Bridge and set Vox traffic on about 25%. Then if there are any traffic "incursions", I can go into UT2 interface and remove any traffic in my way! Wish a developer would do for ATC (VatSim) what OpusFsx did for Weather!-lol!
  14. Still not much of an inprovement when it comes to voice communications. It still asks to repeat or just doesn't answer (yet the typeface on the prompter changes color as if I was heard). Now, sometimes after I answer, the ptt button (and space bar) remain depressed and stays on. I do like the taxi rnwy hold instructions but half the time it just keeps asking the instructions over and over. Expected a bit more considering the lengthy time that has passed since last update but it is still the best (and only) of its kind. Could not fly a fp without it! (why is there no competitor to the likes of VoxAtc as yet??)
  15. Well it seems when I purchased last week, it was v3.0.0, so realizing this today, I downloaded v3.10.2! I assumed the latest purchase would also be the latest version-lol! It pays to read the instructions in detail and the forums. Great now thanks!!!
