October 25, 200421 yr Hi AllI have noticed that on several occasions during a flight, that the program pauses while it reloads scenery. After the scenery has been reloaded the flight continues with no problems. Is it normal for the scenery to periodically reload while conducting a flight.Tks. for any replys,Kenny G.
October 25, 200421 yr Yes, well, it seems that life is full of compromises, and Flight Simulator is no exception. If you do a search here for "stutters" or "pauses" I'm sure you will get enough reading for days. In my humble opinion the causes could be not enough memory, not enough video card power, settings too high in Flight Sim, ad nauseum. If you do not think any of these apply, try the Tips and Tricks at the top of the page. I personally have learned more about computers and how they need to be set up for Flight Sim just by reading the forums here. You may have to do some detective work to find exactly what could be causing your stutters, but in the end you will be a smarter computer user. For example, on my modest Dell 1.7ghz w/5600 Ultra card and 768 megs of ram, with clear skies and default planes and settings, everything is smooth. Incorporate AI traffic, clouds, and detailed airport scenery, one can bring all movement to a very slow crawl quickly. Hope this helps you. Good Flying! October 25, 200421 yr Kenny, do you mean a complete reload of the scenery? If so, I get that sometimes when I'm crossing a time zone. It's as if I hit refresh scenery...billg

It's as if I>hit refresh scenery...>>billgYes BillI am referring to a complete reload of the scenery. The game pauses while it reloads the scenery to 100%, then continues on flying as if nothing has happened.>I do not have a problem, I never had this happen with FS2002 and have started using FS2004 last several weeks and it has occured about 4 times.Tks. again for the reply'sKenny G.
October 26, 200421 yr Hi Kenny,Did you do a Complete install of FS2004 or a Typical or Custom installation? Unless you did a complete installation, then the system will need to access the CD and load the scenery in blocks. R-

R-Hi RonI believe it was a complete install but its been so long, I can't say I am 100% sure.Tks again for your reply Ron.Kenny G.
October 26, 200421 yr Kenny,Annoying isn't it? - look in the library for Dennis Thompson's timezones fix for fs2004 (about 4 small files in all) - it stops the sim from reloading when crossing some timezones. It's a well known bug and occurs even with complete installs.regards,Mark Regards, Mark
