July 22, 201312 yr Dear fellow simmers, First of all, let me say I have tried to find a solution to this question, however, have not been able to find one, despite several days search on the web. I hope this is not in the wrong forum either:) Anyway, my problem is that im flying usually in VATSIM or IVAO network, and if the arrival airport is staffed, they will assign a gate for me, which is nice and im happy. However, when the airport is not staffed, I would like to use somewhat correct (realworld) gate assignment for my airline. Ill give you an example: Landed in Dubai 30L (flytampa Dubai rebooted - excellent btw) with my KLM virtual airline flight from EHAM. Looking at the ground charts - I thought gate F16 would have been big enough for my 747, only to find out it was not. Now, I have tried to find a real world gate - not succeede, but at least I found out KLM uses terminal 1 at Dubai. What I would like to do is to have a gate that has enough space for my jet, and preferably using at least somewhat real world gate assignments. Question: Is there a way to find out which gate for example KLM uses at Dubai or any other airport? when checking departures on the web, it just shows the terminal, not the gate. How do you guys assign a gate for your flight? How do you choose a departure gate for your 747 or any other jet? I dont have the money to visit every airport just to see what gate assignments my airline has )))) Any suggestions? Thanks for your input! Cheers Thomas Schmiedeke Email me
July 23, 201312 yr Author Dear All, I have found a work around, at least for some airports, but still would like to hear how my fellow pilots are doing this Cheers Thomas Schmiedeke Email me
July 23, 201312 yr
The airport editor, I forget what it's called, can show you gate sizes. And doesn't flytampa provide airline gate assignments for their airports? I know they do for Tampa.
I let ATC tell me what gate or choose one with GSX based on what area my airline uses.
Brent Baker
