August 8, 201312 yr My system has 1 TB memory by two Seagate 500 GB hard drives. One drive crashed recently and I am getting a replacement from the company. This drive had OS in it. I installed fsx in the other drive which is ok but the one which crashed had C disk . Since files like fsx cfg gets installed by default in C disk, once I get the replacement, do I have to reinstall fsx or is there a way around? Please suggest. August 8, 201312 yr Yes. You will be missing registry entries too. Plus Microsoft Visual 2005, 2008 and 2010 will be missing. Also, you will be missing Microsoft.net 1.1 thru 4.0. These old programs are all installed by FSX on your system to make sure FSX is properly installed and the application plus all of the addons run as intended by the developers. They are not installed by Windows 7. FSX will not start without Microsoft Visual 2005. Of course you could install all of these old programs separately then go to the Flight1 Library and download the registry repair tool for FSX. That might work but not sure about any addons as they have security keys that will be missing. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! August 8, 201312 yr It is possible to use the same installation and repair the registry entries, but it's generally recommended to start fresh. Many add-ons modify other files on your C: drive like the scenery.cfg, dll.xml, exe.xml, or insert registry entries of their own. -
