Fairchild 24 Windscreen Issue

Featured Replies

Ok guys I just bought it. Pretty nice, but there is an issue that sticks out like a sore thumb (to me). Check these 3 screens, shot in succession as I made a turn into the late noon sun (a favorite time of the day to fly for many pilots obviously) In the third shot down, when the sun hits the center glass on the wind screen, I get this bright glaring cone of light eminating out of the center of the sun. Anyone else bothered by this? Its due to the particular texture used for that glass. Same thing happens with the Lancair Legacy by Realair, except in that case it happens looking out the sides of the canopy, and if you turn off dust and scratches the anomaly disappears. Gonna check with Bill too.

Hello Chris,

I have no idea what is causing this.  I can tell you that the triangle glass in front is flat and that its on the same texture sheet as the sides and front corners, so there is no difference.   I logged a ton of hours in development of the F24 and never even noticed this.  I took it up at sunset and did experience the 'laser beam'.

If you would like a plane-jane nothing in the glass texture, I can do that for you and see if that helps you.

Hi Bill, yeah lets give a plain jane texture a try. I sent you an email too, so just send it in a reply. You can actually see it in one of your example pics on your site http://www.lionheartcreations.com/images/Fairchild_3.jpg Lets get this licked for all the golden hour flyers out there :)

Hello Chris,

I was testing with this, this morning, and was unable to find a fix.  Evidently it is the mesh causing this, some how.  Making the glass even invisible had no effect.

I did find that the 'laser beam' was always pointing from top right to bottom left, never changing angle, only pointing to the bottom left.

I am afraid it is a blemish in the trademark features of this particular aircraft model, sad to say.

It would be nice to find out why this happens.

Thanks for trying bill. There IS a solution out there. I pray the Lord lead you to it eventually.

I'm not sure this is a problem with the model. It happened to me too with Alabeo's pitts special. Exactly the same problem, which I only noticed one time so far. Maybe a glitch in fsx.. not sure.

Something tells me this is a graphics card issue.  It might also have to do with DX10 (if you are using that, which can be buggy).  You might try messing with Display settings in the sim and see if that makes it disappear.
