Hi

Is the PMDG MD-11 fitted with ILS autotune. I just purchased this aircraft and reading the FMS Guide I get the impression it is not necessary. The tutorial EGLL-LSZH also let's me believe it is not necessary as it says it will perform a total autoland and yet did not mention the ILS freq.

Inserting the ILS freq in the FMS is no big deal but for curiosity's sake, i'd like to know whether or not I am missing something.

Yes, the MD-11 has autotune.  It becomes active about 25 miles from the runway so don't be surprised if you see it blank for awhile if you look at it prior to that.  If you change runways, etc you can manually enter in the ILS freq/heading.  A manual entry will be in all caps while autotune has a slightly smaller sized font.

 

To allow the autotune to do its thing, you have to select an ILS approach on the FMS STAR page.
