Repeating Keystrokes

Featured Replies

I have an annoying problem with the sim being overwhelmed with repeating key strokes. I do NOT believe that this is a keyboard issue because I have been through four keyboards and all have had the same issue. I took a screenshot with the V key and the sim gets overwhelmed and when I ALT+ENTER out the key continues to get stuck so that if I press the windows key in the search window I get vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv. The only thing that stops it is to restart the computer. Has anyone ever had this. A google and forum search revealed nothing.

Hello Mike.

Haven’t heard that one in a long time

Keys repeat uncontrollably  (worthless, don’t even bother reading it.)

Since you already tried 4 keyboards: ( No stuck or dirty keys, etc)

1.-Check for malware and virus (Several know virus do that)

2.-Change your keyboard to another USB connector.

3.-Check your keyboard settings (repeat rate, etc.)

4.-Run a Registry Cleaner.

If that does not work and if this also happens outside of FSX then:

Call the big boys:

Extreme measure: Reset all USB Root Hub Controllers. (Works every time)

First make a System Restore Point or if you are unsure make a System Image to be 100% safe.

See this: Troubleshooting USB Connections (Windows 7) second option.

In device manager find out to which USB port is your mouse connected to. (So you can choose/click)

Remove last or don’t if it is connected to a different USB hub than the one used by the keyboard.

Uninstall all other USB’s root hub controllers in device manager and reboot.
Upon startup windows will reinstall all of them.

(If you happen to delete the mouse controller then you will have to do a hard reboot as your mouse will become useless.)

We make Telemedicine Solutions with many USB peripherals, sometimes they fail and corrupt USB’s so we even remove all the USB Universal Host Controllers and Reboot.

As always: This is a suggestion, so whatever You decide is your responsibility.

Hope that helps.

Ramón.
Time, is the one thing no one can buy.

Thank you for your suggestions. In fact I have done everything on your list at one time or another. Its never happened outside of FSX; however, I only use this computer for FSX and web browsing. It only happens in the FSX environment. I have also found at times that when I right click on the mouse to switch views it will change from a hand or arrow to a + and then a repeated sound will ding and FSX crashes or freezes. This has happened on different installs at different installs and it is only sporadic, to make matters more complicated.
