RC4 and LLBG Runways 12/30

Featured Replies

Hi,

On my last couple of flights to Tel Aviv I was told by LLBG approach with RC4 to use runway 30. This runway is now used for taxi only. Is the an way to eliminate this from RC4's ATC directions?

First make sure you are using RC 4 build 3845. Next be sure you are using the latest makerwys from here:

http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66136-useful-additional-programs/

and install in your FS folder, then from within RC run the scenery rebuild. If you run RC on a client PC to a host with FS via WideFS, then run makerwys.exe directly first in your FS folder and then do a scenery rebuild from within RC so the correct data gets copied over.

I do not have FSX but I looked at the FS9 default and this very recent add-on:

llbg_fs9_ready_314135.zip

from the AVSIM library and the runway properties show 12/30 are not closed. They need to be closed for take-off and landing at both ends to be effective for ai and also RC data. I used ADE 9 to examine. The "2014" version still shows the runway open at both ends in this one year future scenario.

You would have to use ADE9X - FSX version or AFX payware to make these edits.

You can look at the RC data directly. Go into rcv4x and make a safe folder called backups. Into that folder copy rcv3.dat and keyboard.dat to avoid a reinstall. Go into RCv4X\data. Make a safe copy of r4.csv. into your backups folder.

Open r4.csv only with a text editor such as notepad or wordpad. Search for llbg. For the default FS9 you get:

LLBG,0030,32.005081,34.891399,135,25.280,5848,0,148,3.200,32.012131,34.895908,0,,
LLBG,0080,32.013916,34.861145,135,76.690,11949,0,148,3.200,32.016792,34.880173,0,,
LLBG,0120,32.015118,34.867199,135,118.250,10134,110.30BDG,148,3.200,32.007866,34.881180,0,,
LLBG,0210,32.019180,34.900417,135,205.280,5848,0,148,3.200,32.012131,34.895908,0,,
LLBG,0260,32.019669,34.899200,135,256.690,11949,108.70BG,148,3.200,32.016792,34.880173,1968,,
LLBG,0300,32.000614,34.895161,135,298.250,10134,0,148,3.200,32.007866,34.881180,246,,

I highlighted the lines of interest.

On each of those they would have CT and CL meaning closed for take-off and closed for landing similar to this one elsewere:

KMSP,0040,44.870926,-93.240189,841,42.650,11699,109.30G,150,2.300,44.882282,-93.224190,2250,CT,CL

Now you have some choices to make:

Since RC uses ai patterns as first choice in assigning runways, it is best to edit the FSX scenery with ADE9X (freeware) or AFX payware to close both ends of 12/30 for take-offs and landings. See if that helps.

The next option is to see if one of the several downloads in the library have already done this. Examine with ADE9X for safest compatibility. Just list runways and then edit to examine. You do not have to add this yet to your scenery library for examination in ADE. Just do a file, open airport from bgl.

Here is the ADE 9 version of the 2014 download in FS9 I referred to just extracting the 2014 files into a scenery folder it creates:

Highlight the runway 12/30. (The X marked ones are "fake" crosswinds to allow simultaneous operations on non-parallel runways.) Click the edit button. Select the patterns tab. Change the the take-off and landings box from Yes to No if you wish to do the edit. Save the ADE project in a folder you create and then compile the project to that scenery folder and then change the extension of the original bgl you edited to bgh to make the original ineffective. You can then add this with priority in your scenery library.

Find any other afcad types in any other add-on folders and change the extension to .bgh to insure there is no conflict.

The referenced original file was done in ADE so that is the safest to use for editing.

You can also open llbg from default stock scenery and make the same runway change. With ADE you will have to copy in the default com frequencies from stock selecting just the ones for llbg as ADE does not do that automatically.

I do not do it so I do not know the action RC will take but if you wish you can try deleting the runways from r4.csv or adding CT and CL as in the example line being sure to not add any spaces. This will not affect ai, just RC commands.

If you do a full library search here under FSX you will find two sceneries and two or three afcad types (afcad is not the correct term but is most familiar) that you  can download and examine with ADE X (safest) or AFX next safest.
