August 23, 201312 yr I've gone back to trying to get OpusFSX to work and have the newest beta v3.23. Since going back to this, approximately every 15 minutes (I believe this is happening at weather updates, but I suppose no guarantees), my FSX will minimize and I'll be looking at the OpusFSX .txt file about the METARs downloaded. I fly in fullscreen mode, which I assume is why it minimizes. I'm sure this is a setting/option I'm missing somewhere, but I can't figure out where. Can anyone tell me how I get this to stop so my flight simulator doesn't minimize in the middle of a flight? Eric Szczesniak
August 23, 201312 yr Commercial Member You just need to close the OpusWeather.txt file and avoid using the Show METAR Report option in the OpusFSI Addon menu. You probably selected this option which request Opus to display the weather text file using your default program for .txt files, normally Notepad. This file is reloaded after each weather update. This option is intended for those using two screens or FSX in Windowed mode. I would suggest connecting a client PC or Laptop via a LAN cable and setting it up as a 'No Connection To The Simulator' type client, hence no need to install FSX, just install SimConnect using our supplied msi install file. The client is also unlicensed so no need to worry about the Flight1 license. From this client you can control the weather engine (LWE), use the LW Assistant, display weather maps, display any of the weather report text files etc.. You can use all of the new features and still use Full Screen on your FSX server system. Stephen If you are using the beta then I should have mentioned Beta Version 3.24.2 has been posted. Also check out the Live Weather and other guides which describe the latest features. Any problems or queries then just ask, either Cheryl or I will usually be available to answer. If not I'm sure other users will help. Stephen :-)
August 23, 201312 yr Author ...avoid using the Show METAR Report option in the OpusFSI Addon menu. I think this was the problem. I had hadn't reread the manual very well since I had used OpusFSX in the past. I was looking for my departure airport weather and it seemed a METAR report made sense, so select this option. What I was actually looking for was the Live Weather option. Eric Szczesniak
August 23, 201312 yr Commercial Member I would advise opening up the Shortcuts dialog in the FSXSERVER form and assigning a few keys, or at least one key, W say, do display the Opus Weather Report on the screen. Of course if you specify a cruise altitude of 6000 feet or more then the Upper weather report will be automatically displayed to report on the progress of the GRIB data download. I would also advise going to our SimForums and looking at the Using The Live Weather Engine topic, you will find a useful Recommended Settings guide described there. Stephen
