Reshaping FS2004 islands

Featured Replies

Any good tutorials on how to do this id like to create EL Nido Resort in Miniloc Island in FS2004 but i noticed the island shape is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy off Terrible to  be exact ive compared it with default fs2004 instillation and is the same exact way so im positive it inst UT besides UT doesnt touch this area as i have T USA-CANADA-And Europe

In real life the island is By itself in FS2004 its jointed together with another island and its horrible ill put up a screen shot in a few but in the mean time can someone point me in the right direction on how i can modifie this and fix Microsoft mistake?

I can get rid of the connection thats the easy part id like to know how to reshape the island so that it matches the real thing i have sbuilder but id like to get a good tutorial showing you step by step on how to reshape the island if possible i mainly use SBuilder to create flattens

Check out FSdeveloper for more detailed info, but the basics. You use SBuilder to exclude all terrain items around the island. This leaves you with a big square of land, which may effect the other islands near by also. Now cover the big square of land with a hydro poly, this changes the land to water. You will now make sure the sat imagery of the island is on screen and carefully draw a line outlining the island. When done, select the line and choose MAKE HOLE, this cuts the shape of the island out of the hydro poly. Now add your new coastlines and viola. This is the basics for FSX, should be similar for FS9.

Thanks for the information i managed to do half of what you explained lol but im still having trouble with the Exclude  as the old shore lines are still being shown and creating new shore lines is really new to me lol

I also managed to get the background SAT imagery into S Builder with the correct LON and LAT info but thit doesnt seem to lineup and wont allow me to freely move the background imagery to align it correctly

Heres what it looks like in FS2004

I guess the basic things id like to know now is

A.)Is there a way in SBUILDER 2.05 to freely move the backround

B.)How do i create new Shore Lines

c.) How do i get the exclude to work correctly lol

D.) How to create a Mesh Height for the newly created Island

Also Seems like SBuilder doesnt allow to exclude land perhaps that only works in FSX using SBUILDER X

Here's what I've done

1. i created An Exclude using S-BUILDER and compiled it into a BGL (Dint Work) there are no options to exclude Land and shorelines in S builder for FS9

2. So instead i pretty much created a flatten then overlayed a water class over the flatten that seemed to work but im still trying to figure out how to get rid of the old shore lines and re-create new ones ,once i recreate a new Poly for the new island

As you can i see i created 2 BGL's one for the Flatten and the other for the Waterclass now how do i get rid of the Shoreline the exclude doesnt seem to have an option for that

Update i managed to complete the project just three things

A. How do i create a Mesh for the island

B. How do i create New Shorelines

C.How do i get rid of the old shorelines

One way of getting rid of the old shorelines is disabling the HL File for that area but that will just disable all the shore lines wich is not what im after lol

Well with a little bit of reading and a bit of elbow Greece i managed to get this far lol i have the mesh for this area but i cant the island to take shape of this mesh guess ill be doing some more reading Although not perfect this was just practice now that i l know the steps to take i can always re-edit and get more into details

Finaly im learning how this thing works, well although not perfect this is definitely much better then default lol

Heres my finished island

That is very impressive.  I was always too scared to try and make my own scenery, but you have given me hope that it might be possible!
