November 8, 200421 yr Hello all, I've been experiencing a series of crashs on my system while running FS9. I can't put my finger on the problem so I thought I'd start here and see if anyone else had this problem. The problem is not addon spacific being that it happens while running my PMDG 737, Pss Airbus and Ready for pushback 747. I 'm also running ActiveSky and the FS9 patch. If anyone has had this this problem please let me know how you solved it. Here are my system specs.......Processor-P4 2.8GHZMEM-2GB 3200DDRGraphics Card-GeForce 6800GT 256mbMainboard-Asus P4P800Thanks for any help you can give.
November 8, 200421 yr You state it is NOT addon specific but how do you know this? What are the error messages you are receiving? If you didn't receive an error message, go into Administrative Tools>Event Viewer>Application and see what happened. Perhaps a solution is recommended there. Where does the error occur? At startup or while flying? I think a lot of crashes are caused by bad installations of video card drivers (IMHO). Recommend you uninstall your drivers and reinstall. Also check out your scenery.cfg file and make sure it is not corrupted (i.e., the areas/layers match and are sequential). Hope this helps.Jim Young
November 8, 200421 yr Thanks I'll check these items out. The crashes always happen during flight and FS9 seems to just shutdown , no error messages.
November 10, 200421 yr Author Two things: If you have XP, install SP2. Then go and make sure your sound tab under directx 9.0c is set to standard or basic. Setting to full causes CTD like these. Eric
November 15, 200421 yr Ok, sorry I took so long to report back but I tried the DirectX9 sound setting of (standard) and I've been flying for a week now( 2 flights a day) with no CDT's. I didn't Install SP2 due to the fact it caused major havoc to other parts of my system the last time I had it installed. I will continue to fly and keep my fingers crossed until I satisfied the problem has been corrected. Thanks Again!
February 19, 200620 yr I realize this is a bit late but I have about the same configuration. I am experiencing the same type of crashes, usually on long-haul flights after 2-3 hours of flight time. When I turn off ActiveSky, everything is fine. I then set up FS9 on 3 other computers in the office and on 2 of them (all same model, same configuration), FS9 crashes when ActiveSky is on, always 1-2 hours into the flight at high altitude.ActiveSky developers refuse support with crashes and basically deny all responsibilty - but the program is very unstable. If anyone knows how to run ActiveSky without crashes, please do drop a us a line :)
