November 12, 200421 yr OK what do I do after i Highlight the programs to shut down? Do I hit the Start button? Or Something else? then what do i do after? Run FS? just need a little more step by step for AutoStart? Please? THank's MIKE
November 13, 200421 yr Author Hello Ken:Please note the following as you requested:So that you will know what I am doing:Normally, IF I want to shut everything possible down before running FS, I do the following: First I run enditall and then autostart. In order to see what is left if I only run autostart, I reversed this process. I run autostart, and then bring enditall up without activating it. I am simple peeking to see what it still shows as running. On my system, Items still showing in enditall AFTER autostart has done its thing are as follows:Program: Ctsysvol; Description: CTSysVol.exeProgram: Cthelper; Description: CtHelper ApplicaationProgram: Ctdvddet; Description: CTDVDDETProgram: Avgcc32; Description: AVG Control CenterProgram: Cli; Description: CLI.EXEProgram: Em_exec; Description: Logitech Events Handler ApplicationProgram: Rcman; Description: Remote Control ManagerProgram: Cli; Description: CLI.EXEProgram: Wzqkpick; Description: WinZip ExecutableProgram: Ntvdm; Description: NTVDM.EXEProgram: -e5d141; Description: CleanupI believe that all of the "CT" items are relative to soundcard options. Now, after autostart has already run, and FS9 is up I activate enditall. Everything showing is shutdown with the exception of the following programs of which I have checked the protected option:Program: Explorer; Description: Windows ExplorerProgram: Fsasctl: Description: FSAutoStart ControlProgram: Fs9; Description: Microsoft Flight SimulatorProgram: Enditall; Description: End it AllNote; The Zonelab firewall does not show up in either Autostart or Enditall and must be shutdown manually if so desired.I realize that some of the programs in question above may be items by another name which were recommended to remain running in your autostart listings, however, if they are so related, I do not see any adverse effect by shutting them down in enditall. Even audio (both mike and speaker) seem to still work fine relative to sound and communication on VatSim.Hope you can understand what I have said. Thanks for your kind and very useful contribution to we Simmers.RTHEDIT: A few other items maybe I should add:1. Immediately after activating autostart, the first response I get after "Phase 1: Stopping Programs" is a red line saying: "ERROR opening process handle : code 5".2. "stopping termservice..." and "stopping vsmon..." both are followed by yellow lines saying: "ERROR This service does not respond to STOP requests. Skipping..."3. "Stopping uploadmgr..." is followed by a red line saying: "ERROR Unable to open Service 'uploading'. error - 1060".P4C800 Deluxe MotherboardPentium 4, 3.2G CPU1G PC3200/400 MemoryWinXP ProDirectX9.0cATI Radeon 9800Pro 128MBSecondary Graphics Diamond Stealth III S540 PCI 21

November 13, 200421 yr I have many of those same programs and I have no problems shutting them down. Are you sure that you have specified in your configuration for those programs to shutdown? FSAutoStart does not do this automatically; if you don't specifically tell it to shutdown those programs, it won't.
November 13, 200421 yr Author Ken:My sincere apology, and I have so added another post to that effect.I have no idea how I missed those line items under programs, but every one of them is there and shut down perfectly. The only items which do not shutdown are as I previously mentioned, ZoneLab's firewall which does not show (enditall either), and e5d141/Cleanup which I assume is the restart execution file for Autostart. If I shut it down in enditall, FS9 closes down and Autostart starts everything back up that I have so chosen (Just like it should do I am sure).I did edit my original reply to include the following which I assume are just the nature of the beast. I cannot tell that they have any influence on anything.1. "Stopping uploadmgr..." is followed by a red line saying: "ERROR Unable to open Service 'uploading'. error - 1060".Again, my apologies for my error and confusion. Thanks for your prompt attention and help.RTH
November 13, 200421 yr Hi: see my reply in the other post :-)1) Zonealarm is a service. You have to shut it down in the Services window.2) A quick Google search got me this on the e5d141. It is not a FSAutoStart program.http://spywareblog.com/index.php/2004/10/23/p403) Error 5 - there is a empty program entry in your profile. This is a little buggy in my program - you can safely ignore it. If you want to get rid of it, open your profile in notepad and look for the empty program line (probably the first one in the [Program] section. Remove the line and save the file.4) If a service registers itself without the STOP permission, FSAutoStart (as well as other software) is not allowed to STOP the service. There is nothing I can do about that one.5) Error 1060 is "The specified service does not exist as an installed service. " Looks like you uninstalled some software, but FSAutoStart doesn't know that. You can set the action to "Do Nothing". Again, this is an issue I will tackle in a future update. Thanks for the post!
