September 4, 201312 yr PLEASE READ: The idea behind this thread is to lower the number of threads on the forums regarding support and to also help members find quick and easy answers to some of the quirks of the 777 and/or FSX limitations. I know many of us will probably resort most people the READ THE MANUAL, and I agree, but sometimes, to have a collection of commonly asked questions and the answers may save a lot of that. I've compiled only but a few so far, from what I've read in the 'Introduction Manual' and some obvious FSX limitations, but please feel free to add your own FAQs and I'll update this post. PLEASE ONLY REPLY TO THIS THREAD IF YOU HAVE A Q & A - THIS ISN'T A TOPIC FOR YOUR SUPPORT QUESTIONS. Q. Why doesn't the WXR button display a weather radar? Due to FSX limitations, a weather radar will never be accurate within FSX. Other add-on companies may supply you with a 'realistic' weather add-on, but this is incorrect. As weather in FSX isn't a true 'picture', per se, PMDG haven't this in ANY of their aircraft. Q. I am in the Flight Deck, but I am unable to click any of the buttons or click-spots. Why is this? According to PMDG's Introduction Manual, if you're 'view' is from "inside" the seat, then you won't be able to click any of the buttons. Simply move your camera view to outside of the seat and you should be able to resume like normal. Q. I am flying online, but no one is able to hear me! What's going on!? PMDG have modelled the radios accurately in the 777. To be able to speak, you'll need to press the MIC button on the ACP panel (below the radios panel) corresponding to the radio you want to transmit online. Q. I turned off the autopilot, but I can’t silence the alarm? You need to press the autopilot disconnect button on your joystick (or the Z key) twice in order to silence the alarm. Make the first press, wait a second or two and then press it again. If you double-press too fast, it won’t silence. Always use the disconnect button, don’t use the disconnect “bar” on the MCP – you’ll have the siren constantly going off if you do. On aircraft with the RESETTABLE SIREN option set to NO, pressing the master warning button on the glareshield will not stop the alarm – this goes for any master warning in fact, not just the autopilot. September 4, 201312 yr One small question, could be a Win8 anomaly: I found this morning that after hitting F7 on my keyboard twice in a row to set flaps 5, for some reason after that point I could no longer use the keyboard for anything - first noticed when I tried to use the 'A' key to change a View. Could use the menu bar at top to select views, and could use mouse on all controls and buttons, and Logitech Extreme 3D continued to work fine, just this keyboard lockup. A shame as I had everything set up perfectly in FMS, had gone thru a great successful startup from C&D, none of the insane ground services crashed into me during pushback (one near-miss with a fire truck ducking under the rear of the fuselage), and was able to TO and get to cruise before it all irked me enough to pull a Milo Minderbinder.... Also found after end-tasking FSX with Task Manager (ctrl-C didn't work) that somehow my Internet connection had been knocked out. Had to completely power off the PC and cable modem and back on to fix that. My FLEXnet license service is set to run manually, so no issue there. Just passing this on in case it's more than a random one-off event; perhaps some kind of IP snafoolery with my cable service was the precipitating cause, who knows?
September 4, 201312 yr +1. This kind of thread should be available for every PMDG product. Would cut down the simple silly questions hehe Thoriq Kamaruszaman, Potato Flier READ THE MANUALS.
