November 12, 200421 yr i want to buy a payware aircraft addon and to save time i'd like to download it but here's the catch. i have a neighbor who has high speed cable internet and a burner. i'd like to be able to order and download it from his machine and then have him burn it on a CD so i'd be able to install it on my machine and to have as a backup or as an original disk to use if i needed to reinstall it for whatever reason. can this be done? i am aware of codes that must be entered by the buyer to get the software to run but from what i've heard some of them can only be done once or something to that effect. i'm looking to have it work the same way as the disks that come with FS9, like where you can install it the uninstall then restall to your hearts content, no fuss no muss or am i hoping for to much here. thanks, william
November 12, 200421 yr I think you can accomplish what you are after if you, for example, buy a Flight1 aircraft. The only requirement is that you have your computer connected to the Internet when you install the downloaded aircraft on your system. The same applies when you re-install. Your neighbour can do the initial download and burn the file for you. Bert
November 13, 200421 yr thanks bert and uwe. not exactly sure yet but was thinking of flight 1s ATR or the DC9. i'm running ME and think the DC9 will run on it but the ATR is XP. might need to get a new OS. you think either will run good on a AMD3000, 512 megs of ram and a 128 video card? thanks, william
November 13, 200421 yr You might try the 50,000 freeware aircraft first. If they run, then you'll probably be OK with the payware stuff.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
November 13, 200421 yr thanks bert. why do you have to be connected to the internet during the installation and do you need to be connected to their websight at the same time? also suppose they go out of business, not that they will, how would you reinstall then? i understand the piracy thing but not real comfortable having to rely on an outside source to install or reinstall software that i purchase. don't they have CDs in a box you can order or do they require the same internet install thing too?thanks again, william
November 13, 200421 yr thanks mark. i do have a few freeware a/c and have no problems at all. maybe that's a good sign. william
November 13, 200421 yr If you're into the DC-9, William, then the latest SGA model and sounds combined with one of the excellent freeware remakes of Paul Golding's panel - and there are others, too - will serve you very well.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
