Why does the plane suddenly dip a few 100 feet out on approach?

Featured Replies

The last two flights, different aircraft, different airports, both ended up with the aircraft dipping nose down about when it's time to do your flare, making it almost impossible to get the nose up in time. Manual flying--no autopilot involved. Any clues?Noel

Stalling?

A stall is very likely if you're coming in too slow under gusty wind conditions...-John

Are you, by chance, using ActiveSky 2004.5? If so, go into the options and check to see if your wake turbulence settings are enabled. I decided to disable these options and haven't experienced any 'turbulence' while on short final since.

Yep - same happened to me - wake turbulence on every landing, some violent enough to slam me into the ground.Joe LorencVice President, Carolina Operations, VN7 Networkhttp://www.vn7network.com/

By doing that, the turbulance from a Jet landing ahead of you is more disapated... In real aircraft, the Tower would give a light aircraft following a Jet, that instruction. Bob
