Serial after uninstallation

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am about to purchase the long awaited 777, but I have one question: If I uninstall the airplane and fsx and then I install everything back, will the serial still work?

Thanks,

Liam

If you make a backup of the installer, then I believe it should be okay.

If you don't backup the installer, then you may have to purchase the Extended Download Service and get a new copy with a new serial/order code.

Always make a backup of your installers. Burn them to DVD, put them on an external, etc. It takes 1 minute to do and saves an enormous amount of time/effort/pain if you have to reinstall.

Of course I will backup the installer, but will the key work? It won't be blocked or something?

Liam K

No they key will still work as long as you don't try to activate too many times in a row since there is an activation limit.

I do not believe so. It should be tied in to that specific installer. However, I may be wrong. I've never had to do an uninstall/reinstall.

And FWIW, I only mentioned the whole backup thing for anyone that happens to come across the topic. It wasn't directed entirely at you. I've definitely seen issues in the past where people have gotten upset at the fact that they had to purchase the EDS. Just wanted to mention it and help people avoid future headaches.
