In real life and if I recall on some of the beta shots, alternate airports beyond the set range of the ND were displayed with an arrow showing which direction they were off the screen. Anyone know if this is modelled and if so, how to display it.

It is modeled (how else would it have appeared in the beta shots?).

 

You have to be in a situation where an airport is beyond the ND's max range, and is within 180 degrees of the nose.
