high stall speeds on pfd during approach

Featured Replies

Hi there,  Firstly thanks all your work in developing this brilliant 777. One small issue i have noticed. Every time i approach an airport the stall speed indication is 160 - 170 knts with 30 degrees flaps,  forcing me to landing at quite high speed. I am  unsure why this is so as i am sure this is not normal the actual aircraft. Thanks for any help you can give me with this issue.

Thanks ,  Simon.

I see your fuel says 17.5 Metric tonnes. This is a normal amount of fuel.

What did you tell the FMS that your Zero Fuel weight was?

(and did you use Kilograms or Pounds).

To get that effect in the real aircraft you could tell the FMS that you have a far-too-high a number for ZFW, and one easy way to get that kind of number is mix up pounds lb to kg.

That's all I can think of for now.

I didn't input any weights into the fmc as i was just flying a curcuit. I just programmed the arrival and departure runways into the FMC then flew the curcuit. Do you have to tell the FMC the weights even if you are only flying a curcuit?

Yes.  That's how it calculates your reference speeds.

Additionally, if it has the wrong values, it can cause issues in determining safe speeds.
