September 17, 201312 yr I'm not sure what I did here. Winds aloft forecast is 060/54. Actual winds showing 240/54. This has been going on since I switched from vatsim weather to NOAA while the servers at vatsim were down. The winds aloft always seem to be exactly 180 off. Is there something I can check to fix this? Justin whetstone
September 17, 201312 yr Commercial Member VATSIM does not provide winds aloft data, that is provided by NOAA, so changing from VATSIM to NOAA does not have any effect there. Did you have Stabilised GRIB enabled? Did your forecast come from OpusFSX reports or an external source? This could possibly be something to do with anti-windshift measures, we are making some changes in the next beta. Cheryl
October 2, 201312 yr Author I searched the forums and found I had three versions in control panel. I also changed the stabilization settings and deleted previous GRIB data. Seems to be better. Justin whetstone
October 2, 201312 yr Commercial Member Hi Justin You will find it helpful to read and follow the Recommended Practices in our SimForums Using the Live Weather Engine. Basically set all defaults in all weather dialogs, then always specify your destination and cruise altitude before updating the weather and taking to the sim skies. There are many on screen and text reports, including weather maps you could consult before flight. These not only provide details about the expected weather but also confirm that all weather data has been downloaded and prepared OK before you fly. Also when upgrading always make sure you uninstall previous versions. The FSXSERVER program will shutdown if it detects anything wrong with the build. Regards Stephen
