November 22, 200421 yr I have been running FS2004 since it came out.I had a problem with sound break up right at the beginning, and I set my sound card to Basic Accelleration, which solved the problem.ATC has always been loud and clear.Since yesterday, ATC voices have developed long stutters which is really annoying.Any ideas what might be causing this please? Many thanks, John
November 22, 200421 yr Anything new running in the background? That happened to me once when I wanted to try something out and had everything running in the background. I usually close all running processes, apps, etc.
November 22, 200421 yr Author Thanks, but I have nothing new running in the background.I even re-installed my sound card drivers, but the ATC still stutters. John
November 22, 200421 yr Run dxdiag and check your sound acceleration. Try trurning it down to Standard or even Basic. That fixed it for me. R-
November 22, 200421 yr Author Thank you Ron. I had forgotten about that.Unfortunately, I had set it as Basic and it is still on that setting.Tried another flight and I had stutters in the ATC voices during taxi, lining up and takeoff. It settled down in the climb and cruise and I had no stutters on the approach and landing.Could this point to some sort of sound cache clearing itself?Strange I never had this problem before. John
November 23, 200421 yr Did you recently update your voice pack with Editvoicepack 3.1. If so, did you set the voice accelerations selection by mistake. You could rename the USEnglishBig.gvp to USEnglishBig.ORIG, then retrieve the default file from your FS2004 CDs to see if it clears the problem. If so, rename the new USEnglishBig.gvp to USEnglishBig.NEW and USEnglishBig.ORIG to USEnglishBig.gvp, then run Editvoicepack 3.1 again to remove the voice accelerations. Otherwise, just run Editvoicepack 3.1 on the default USEnglishBig.gvp ensuring you don't set the voice acceleration option.W. Sieffert Bill Sieffert
November 23, 200421 yr Hi John, you wrote:"Tried another flight and I had stutters in the ATC voices during taxi, lining up and takeoff. It settled down in the climb and cruise and I had no stutters on the approach and landing."Was there a notable difference between you departure and your destination airports? For example, did your departure A/P have very complex scenery or lots of traffic and arrival A/P feature simple scenery and less traffic? Just a thought. R-
November 23, 200421 yr Author Thanks, I see what you're getting at Ron, but I'm afraid I turned back to the same airport.I'm sure you're right though, it must be some sort of cache/resources type thingy. I'll keep at it John
