A question about "current_wx_snapshot.txt"

Featured Replies

Hello,

I am using AS2012 in conjunction with Aivlasoft's excellent EFB program, using the "current_wx_snapshot.txt" as the weather data source for EFB. This is fine but the file never appears to update or refresh during a session, despite weather conditions changing and even if I refresh the AS2012 weather engine.

Therefore, the weather info in EFB using AS2012 as it's source becomes out of date fairly quickly while the weather in FSX remains evolving. Can AS2012 output or update a file that EFB can read?

Best wishes,

Luke

Hi Luke,

current_wx_snapshot.txt is indeed updated in the AppData\HiFi\AS2012\Weather folder each time the weather is downloaded.  Not sure why this is stale, but I would confirm the location of this file... you may be looking at a "copy" in another location.

Thanks Damian,

I believe that I'm looking at .../users/[me]/appdata/roaming/hifi/data... or something similar. I'm not at home right now so I can't say the exact address from memory. It is worth mentioning that the dynamic .txt file created in the same directory does update and grows to about the same size as the snapshot file within a few seconds of the weather engine starting. I've tried pointing EFB at this file instead but it's not having it and says it's not a valid data source!

Best,

Luke

Hi Again Damian,

I have checked my system now and can confirm that the file I am looking at is the one you have refered to. There are no other instances of that file on my PC.

Best wishes,

Luke

P.S. Sorry for spelling your name incorrectly on my first reply!
