Mini Panel ?

Featured Replies

Is there a sizable replacment for the mini panel? One with more beter instruments? Thanks!Barry

You can place whatever instruments you like in the MiniPanel. I use FS Panel Studio, and it's a peice of cake, I can place whatever instruments in there, that I like.

Barry, unless your airplane has its own mini-panel window, the default mini-panel(s) can be found under FS9/aircraft/default/panel/panel.cfg.Open with Notepad and edit to your heart's content... in a separate thread I've posted the changes required to display the Flight1 C172 gauges..If the plane has its own specific mini-panel, open up the panel.cfg file with notepad and look for the Minipanel Window definition...

I read these posts re the "mini panel." Two :-newbie questions:1. What is a "mini panel" and how do you open one?2. Also, what is "kiosk" mode? Thanks for any info.Tom :-)

The Minipanel is the view that you get when you hit the "W" key in the regular panel. It typically gives you a view with the gauges floatingat the bottom. The panel.cfg file is the configuration file for the panel. It is a text file and can be opened with any text editor, like Notepad.Re Kiosk mode... have never used it, but I believe it is an "unattended" mode, used to show off FS.

Can you create one with HSI Airspeed / Vertical Speed, instruments and email it to me? Again it must be re-sizable. Maybe just like the current mini panel except adding the HSI gauge so I can track an ILS approach. Thanks!Barry

Barry, if you are comfortable opening up a text file with Notepad, you can do this yourself.Go to the FS9/aircraft/default/panel folder and open up the panel.cfg file.Under Window00, it will say:gauge03=MiniPanel!Heading Indicator, 300, 0, 100, 100Change this to:gauge03=Cessna 208!Horizontal-Indicator, 300, 0, 100, 100save the file. Now you have the Cessna Caravan HSI in the mini-panel.

Try the file minipnl2.zip by Kenichi Otsuka. He went through all the default aircraft and re-assigned gauges to better fit the aircraft. I use them... the're pretty good and saved my from having to go through and manually editing each. And if you want the panel on the top of the screen rather than the bottom (opens the view for landing), change the line position="x" to position=1. ;)
