January 2, 200521 yr I just recently started having problems with FS9 freezing up and then generating the "Your computer has run out of available memory..." error when on final approach to Simflyer's KATL. My computer is not overheated, it has plenty of memory (both hardrive and ram) and I've also increased my Page File setting on my DELL XPS from default 1536MB to 2536MB based on Eric's past success. However, fs9 still freezes up on final at SF's KATL. Could part of the problem be because I just recently installed fsgenesis American Data - could there be a bgl problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.FYI: P4 3.0GHZ, 2 GHZ RAM, Radeon 9800Pro, FS9, PMDG and XP homeThanks in Advance,Alex
January 2, 200521 yr In XP virtual memory settings should be left to the OS, its not like the previous versions, and messing with these can cause more problems than they solve.I believe that the spurious "out of memory" errors are ALL scenery related, we know that there is a HUGE bug in FS that can cause this type of error, and 9 times out of 10 its scenery related.FS has an evil little bug, where if just one single landclass BGL file is in a scenery folder that also has a texture folder, FS will keep looking for the textures for the landclass, which it doesnt have, this causes these out of memory errors. If you have narrowed it down to a sinlge addon, and you can fly to said airport WITHOUT the addon WITHOUT it crashing, then the scenery that is causing it is bad, so either remove it, or ask the vendor for a fix.Dan.
January 7, 200521 yr I too receive the dreaded "out of memory" error report while at Sim Flyer's KIAH and approx 20 miles from landing at 27L at SF KATL. I constantly get a CTD or out of memory shutdown after loading ANY aircraft at ANY airport and opening the kneeboard and clicking on NAV. NAV opens OK and no CTD. FPS look great too. Click on the NAV scrolling bar to scroll down on a flight plan and ZAP, complete darkness and shutdown. FYI, I have turned off all ATC Traffic and still receive crashes after going through the above procedure. The crashes happen 100 percent of the time when clicking on the scroll bar on the NAV kneeboard. Just wondering if anyone else is crashing after going through this procedure. The system monitors my memory. I do not recall having this problem prior to updating FS9 to 9.1; however, I seriously doubt this is the problem. I do have ActiveCamera installed with the latest update and that will cause your system to crash too w/o the ActiveCamera update since it takes the same memory address as FS9 components. I think something else is taking the memory address for the kneeboard component(s).I have the Dell XPS Gen 3 System (3.6 GHz) w/1 gig of memory and the Radeon X800 XT PE video card.Jim
January 7, 200521 yr Jim,Sorry to say but something surely is not right! I have 3.2Ghz with a 9800Pro 128MB card and 1GB of RAM. I was getting those out of memory errors but only after long flights into a SF field like ATL and with the PMDG plane. I never got one into Fly-Tampas stuff. I have since unintalled FS9.1 and reinstalled it due to installing XP SP2. I wanted to get a fresh install with the SP2 on the machine. I also updated my CAT drivers to the latest 4.12's. I adjusted my PCI Latency as well. I don't have Active Camera as I can care less what the heck is going on in the cabin as I have this sim to fly, not sit in the rear which I do in real life. Anywhoo...since doing the above,,,,the bloody sim works like a charm. Smooth and stutter free with great FR and no out of memory errors. If I get out of memory errors now, its cause SF's stuff is not working right with SP2 I would assume. I fly effortlessly with no FR degration into Fly-Tampa's stuff...so it must be with SF,,,not me.
