September 21, 201312 yr I have FSX Gold. Would it be possible to download aircraft, scenery, etc. that is listed under FS2004 ? Doesn't FSX have FS2004 in it? Thanks in advance.
September 21, 201312 yr You can "download" any aircraft/scenery addon. Making it work in FSX is another topic. Seems your topic heading would best be " Installing Fs2004 aircraft/scenery in FSX" of which there are literally 1000's of topics.
September 21, 201312 yr Commercial Member Actually, you may have purchased FSX Gold, but that is a marketing package which contains FSX Deluxe and FSX Acceleration. Saying one has FSX Gold does not describe what they have installed/are using. But that aside, it doesn't really matter for your question. Regarding Scenery: Some will, some wont. Also, FSX uses a "round world" where FS9 uses a "flat" world, and unless there is a patch made for the scenery you can get runways bleeding through that are misaligned a little. The group I'm with has several excellent FS9 airports, some we found or created a fix/patch for) and enjoy them quite a lot - especially in Europe but some in the U.S. Another potential problem is if the FS9 Scenery in question was converted from FS2002 to FS9. That's a whole other world of problems that are basically unresolvable. AIRCRAFT: Most FS9 aircraft will work in FSX. You won't hurt anything by trying the scenery/aircraft, but DO NOT (bares repeating) DO NOT dump the scenery in the FSX\Addon Scenery and Texture folders so that FSX will auto load them. Use the FSX Scenery Manger. Also, ensure that none of the default files (located under the FSX\Scenery and FSX\Texture folders) are overwritten - that could result in a FSX reinstall.
