September 23, 201312 yr I am running FSX with Fspassenger on one PC, Activesky 2012 and wideFS on a seperate laptop, and Plan-g and Radar contact 4 with wideFS on another laptop. Everything works ok but I highly doubt I have them all configured/setup properly to make the most of them. I currently run radar contact on a high end laptop with plan g but I am think activesky needs more horsepower since it takes several minutes to install snapshots before flight. I see frequent "slow downs" with radar contact but I am not sure if that is a resource issue with laptop or a symptom of poor fsuipc configuration. I am not new to flying or computers. I am very new to flying at this level and trying make the many vendor products work seamlessly. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks Rob Rob Sgambellone
September 23, 201312 yr Both Active Sky and RC frequently access FSX for aircraft position and other factors. Active Sky itself uses a lot of resources, much more than RC. In RC for best performance make sure the options Display Text is off and just use AI chatter, not Pre-recorded chatter. Interact with AI should be on. Be sure fsuipc4 is current from: http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66139-updated-modules/ as later versions improve win communications between processes. WideFS and WideClient updates are on the same page. I am not familiar with Plan G's operation. You have also got a lot of networking messages traveling around between your two clients and the FSX host plus any other net connections you might have such as the internet. You might have background processes running for updates from virus vendors (if you have a protection app disable the live updates when gaming-some have a gaming mode). For Active Sky I suggest using archived weather for your flight time instead of real world live updates. I also think you might be better off running AS on the host pc rather than loading your laptop resources. RC itself uses much less resources and messaging to FSX than probably your other apps. I do not have a net setup and I use AS65 with FS9 but you still get the general idea. The only way to trace this kind of problem is to use RC and FSX with a default aircraft first. Then add AS followed by the other apps until you experience this problem.
