November 24, 200421 yr gotta put a plug in here for eaglesofts cj1. in my own opinion, a GREAT job! i was a bit skeptical about the cockpit being a bit hard to read before i bought it but at 1024x768 i have no problem at all and that is a lower resolution than recommended. the pics for some reason get degraded when posted so i want to say they ARE clearer when you actually have it on your machine. plus there are pop up windows which are just fine. every sim has them anyway so no big deal for me. the partial FMC is perfect for me since i've never used one before anyway. i like to fiddle, click and push buttons as much as the next guy but i do eventually want to get up and fly. after a few test flights which i'm still doing i want to say i made a landing last night that was SO sweet i wanted to cry. how soft and smooth she lands!i also like the way the engines sound, to cool. anyway this is really one great aircraft and it will be the one i'll be spending all my time in unless i get another one from eaglesoft which i just might do! if you're wondering about whether or not to get it....go for it, they have a 30 day policy i think but you won't need it. oh yea, i'm big on smoothness and good framerates and that's one or the reason i stayed with the default aircraft, because they are silky smooth even with real weather. wasn't sure about any payware but i bit the bullit and tried the cj1 and on my humble amd 3gig, 512 megs of ram, 128 video card and a 30 gig HD she flies very smooth with the "lite version", no VC. william
November 25, 200421 yr I agree. The flying qualities of this aircraft are top-notch, in my opinion. Very easy to hand fly and land. As for VC gauge clarity, they are clear enough I feel (assuming VC gauge quality is set to high in the aircraft.cfg options). But what brings me back to this aircraft is the hand-flying. And the aircraft has just enough "play" in the 3 axis that you feel you're in a dynamic medium (air) vs. the "flying on rails" feeling that some aircraft can have.-John
November 25, 200421 yr hey john, i totally agree. it's a hand flier for me. wouldn't have it any other way. makes me want to throw the autopilot out the window! to use the autopilot on this jet would be a total waste of some good hand flying. hehehe, yea, this plane is a keeper! i also like how smooth the instruments are. the attitude indicator and needles in the other mfd are just plain smooth. very hi tech. william
November 25, 200421 yr Could someone please expand on setting VC gauge to high in the aircraft.cfg options? I opened a aircraft.cfg and couldn't find anything about gauges???
November 25, 200421 yr no, use the menu in FS. Display properties->aircraft->VC gauge quality or something like that.
November 25, 200421 yr Many thanks William and John! Glad you like her and are having fun:-)Happy Thanksgiving!
November 25, 200421 yr First, let me DITTO each one of the compliments to this fine add on. However, two issues. One, I don't see what is so "humble" about your 3 gig machine. My guess is that only 25% of all FS users have a machine that fast. Poor me, 1.7,512On my rig, there is a real legibility issue even with ONE PORTION of the pop up menu...the rest of it is just fine and I certainly don't think this is a "buy or don't buy" issue.FPS is another story. Compared to 22-25 fps on the runway at O'Hare and quite smooth performance with a default aircraft, Medium clouds and 25% AI traffic, with the CJ1 I get 8-12 and a slide show.I am not electing to return the software because I am about to upgrade my machine with a 2.8 chip and a gig of ram and hopefully, I can fly this great CJ1 with those specs.Regards

Don't know your your video card or settings but do suggest running the panel at 1280X960X32 bit to get the best legibility:-)
November 25, 200421 yr i assumed mine was a humble machine when i see alot of people running ATR and other heavies and talking about how great they fly. with my machine they wouldn't get off the ground so if they're talking framerates or how good they fly then i assumed the had some alienware machine or some such, maybe not though. if it's not smooth i won't fly it and like you 8-12-14 fps doesn't cut it for me either. i don't know how it does for anyone but to each his own. actuall i was thinking of getting more ram myself and even a 256 video card. just a thought though. the cj1 does fly very smooth with the lite version and i'm thankful it does. you'll be tickled to death when you upgrade! william
November 25, 200421 yr Hi guys!Just wanted to pop in an tell ya that not the size of video memory is THE determining factor for performance. For FS everything from 128Mb should be fine. Much more important is of course the graphics chip you're using and the timings your memory is capable of.I don't fly payware simply because my system couldn't handle it. An as a college student I shouldn't spend too much time on flying anyway...:-hah cheerio:-sun1Claudio
November 26, 200421 yr yes, tried the lite version but still not nearly smooth enough for me to enjoy. LOVE the machine though. You guys did a terrific job building it. I'm hoping that 2.8 with a gig of ram will do it for me.
