Rain Umbrella

Featured Replies

How do you get rid of the rain umbrella around the plane?  I have Steve's fixer but it didn't fix it for me.  Thanks.

That's odd... You did enable the relevant options? The Fixer clearly solved it for me (one of the highlights of the addon!)

Yes, I have all the options checked.  Deleted the rain40.fx file in the shaders folder and let it rebuild but that didn't help.  Cycled the rain option still didn't work.

Tell me "precisely", which folder, Jim....

We'll get it fixed, no prob. , but I need a tad of'clarity' here..

After it I noticed the rain umbrella effect, I moved the rain40.fx out of the ShardersHLSL\Misc folder and let the sim rebuild it.  I still have the file that was in that folder after installing the fixer backed up.  But neither one of them work.  Rain falls outside the umbrella.

Thanks for the help.

Aaaahh.. ok.. FSX won't rebuild that folder, Jim - it is the master folder, which contains the shader code. We have a bit of work to do, then.

FSX uses these two folders - Shaders and Shaders10, which you can find here, in the FSX folder at the end of the path:-

C:\Users\{your username here}\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX\Shaders and \Shaders10

These are called the "Shaders cache folders.

So 1). if you don't have this - here is a new ShadersHLSL folder complete. Download it and just place the zip into the root folder of FSX - where fsx.exe lives-OK!

Then - 2). Uninstall the new DX10 Scenery Fixer by dbl-clicking on the Controller icon, and pressing the "Uninstall" button - that's all at this moment:

3). Go back to the FSX main folder and delete your existing ShadersHLSL folder.

4). Next unzip the new one which you just downloaded, and it will take the deleted one's place

5). Back to the Controller, and press the Install button, and then proceed to re-enable the rest of the functions, and you should then be good to go!

Come back here if you still have a problem..OK!

Al the Best,

It's the one in the app folder that I moved out (the cache) and let it rebuild.  Not the one in FSX main folder.  I forgot about the ShadersHLSL in the FSX main folder..  My rain40.fx and rain40.fxh in that folder are dated 8/27/2007 which are older than the ones in your zip.

Do you mean uninstall the libraries in the controller, replace the ShadersHLSL folder in FSX and then re-install the libraries from the controller?  Just want to be sure.
