lol, I have no clue why I listened to the popular "low 2x" advice.. I remember someone saying "above that there are no significant gain to make it worthwhile" or something along these words.. completely untrue. Going to high 2x works out the same fps for me and holy, those clouds reflecting at the water are just gorgeous! I was looking at orbx's preview screens and I wasn't getting how come they get such nice water and I'm not. Guess that was the reason. Another lesson! don't listen to every tweak advice thrown into air....

Side note: what I think LM should do is create some sort of Ai LOD that will auto adjust fsx, on-the-fly, according to what you're flying. It can basically split into two main types of flying: GA and Airliners. I'm pretty sure this can be done and can possibly contribute to the sim more than anything else.

I have water set to maximum and I am running much lower specifications (core i3 clocked to 4.5ghz, 8gig Ram 1600Mhz and a GTX 760). I use the "sparkling" animation from REX and the effects are amazing! Ultra smooth animated waves with scenery and cloud reflections running at a steady 30fsp in DX10.

The only thing that instantly kills frame rates for me is adding road traffic, boats and massive amounts of AI. I never use road traffic as it drops frames by nearly 10 instantly!

Other than this DX10 is pure bliss especially for water effects!
