October 16, 201312 yr Hope I'm posting in the correct forum for this question! I'm about to install a new 240GB SSD into my FSX PC on WIndows 7. I've taken the case apart and noticed that there only appear to be 4 SATA cables (the flat orange ones?) coming off the motherboard. 2 are attached to the OS SSD and main HD and 2 on the DVD drive and DVD/BluRay drive. I don't use the DVD/BluRay drive so can I just remove the SATA and power cable from that and use them for the new SSD drive? October 16, 201312 yr Yes, that should work. That said, you might find that there are a few more SATA ports (without cables attached) on that mobo. The headers can be mounted along the edge of the board and/or on the board's surface. Often there are several sets of headers, not necessarily collocated.
