Speed Problems

Featured Replies

Hi all, just a question, when I'm the 737NGX at 30,0000 (which is low for a 738) the top speed is only 310?, I don't think that's right somehow. I see 738 on flightrader24 at 39,0000 at a speed of 450. Any suggestions on what could be wrong?, I've tried it in all kinds of weathers and it's still the name. If I go over the limit of 310 the aircraft starts to jump around the place and swings back and for.

Have a read about the differance between TAS, IAS, and ground speed

Hint - Flight radar shows ground speed, your PFD shows IAS

Here are some basics to get you going http://www.decodedscience.com/what-is-the-difference-between-true-air-speed-and-indicated-air-speed/22380

On flightradar I think its ground speed that shows.

Yes.

There's nothing wrong.

There's a huge difference between:

Indicated airspeed

Calibrated airspeed (what you're seeing indicated on the PFD)

True airspeed

and Groundspeed

What you're seeing on FlightRadar is likely the groundspeed.  You fly the plane by indicated/calibrated.

Have a look here for the differences:
