December 6, 200421 yr Hi,would I recommend it . . Yes Indeedie, go get it.but!, be prepared for a bit of a learning curve, that being said, they have put in a marvellous piece of kit in the way of a Virtual First Officer Switch, he will look after all you're fuel etc, leaving you to enjoy FL5?? and M2.03hope this helps.
December 6, 200421 yr I have yet to achieve anything more than FL530 or FL540, Once reached FL560 going west to east to Heathrow, I even have increased the aircraft.cfg static thrust a bit which helps before FL500, but not after. Otherwise, a wonderful addon, I recommend it!!Randy Jura, KPDX
December 6, 200421 yr If there is one feature I really appreciate about this product is the ability to save the flight anytime. You have no idea how many flights I have aborted with other aircraft due to my better half. I highly recommend it.Pesi
December 6, 200421 yr Seriously off topic, but a little bit of advice...You *HAVE* to climb using MAX CLIMB mode - if you don't, you won't get to maximum altitude (although in order to get above FL500, you must already be doing that).Secondly, climbing from a full fuel load, you might not reach FL600 in the time it takes to cross the Atlantic. You also shouldn't use maximum fuel to do the crossing, however, so it might be worth taking a bit out before departure? It does climb incredibly slowly at those levels (sometimes less than 10fpm!)I normally aim at FL550 Westbound and FL530 Eastbound. At that altitude it is quite happy doing M2.02 and will bob up higher, slowly, when it is ready to do so. FL600 is the maximum cruise altitude - it doesn't have to fly that high all the time. :-)My opinion has to be counted as biased, because I helped test the package, but I would say it is definately worth having. I've had a few Concordes since I got my first "realistic" one in FS98 and never got on with any of them particularly well until VFE came along. Occasionally, now, I even flick all the right switches, in the right order, at the right time! :-hahIan P.
December 6, 200421 yr I just completed my 2nd flight with the Phoenix Conc, and got to FL580 and M2.0 no problem. The package is a good one, and if you are not a concorde systems expert, then the VFE is worth the entrance fee alone. The Koch media, altitude concorde has more realism, and a better external model, but in all the time I have had that model, I have not flown it, simply because I find it to complex to use.As I said, the VFE now makes it possible to for me to use the concorde, and I am actually learning a fair bit by watching the VFE performing his tasks.Dan.
December 6, 200421 yr Moderator Pesi,If you install AutoSave by Pete Dowson you can configure it to save flight details every x minutes. The default is 1 but 3 is a reasonable setting. It also works with the PSS Concorde. You can download this free utility here www.schiratti.com/dowson.htmlCheers, Ray (Cheshire, England). December 7, 200421 yr Thanks. Unless I'm reading it wrong though it will not work with aircraft such as the FLIGHT1 ATR as it will not save all the cockpit settings unlike the concorde which does.Pesi
December 7, 200421 yr Moderator Pesi,Try it, it's easy enough to install. If it doesn't work then just remove the module. If it does - job done!Cheers, Ray (Cheshire, England).
