  1. For long haul Parsifal John
  2. Ah ok, thanks for the explanation. Great product, by the way. John
  3. When I revert to DX9 by uninstalling the libraries I now get a series of was 2 error messages related to effects files, specifically fx_navred.fx and 14 other lighting effects. It doesn't actually seem to cause a problem and the files are there in the backup and in the main effects folder. If I restore these files from an Acronis backup I made a couple of weeks ago to the main FSX effects folder, delete the DX10 backup folder and reinstall DX10 Scenery Fixer the same thing happens. This has only started since updating to build 24. As I said the files are definitely present, I'm just curious as to the reason and would rather not have to click 15 times to get rid of the error messages. John
  4. Taken from our hire car approaching Funchal airport. On the way in we experienced the famous curving 05 approach, the houses looked very close out of the left side of the aircraft! John
  5. Have a look here too, there is a great tip for getting the installation to run faster http://forum.avsim.net/topic/414144-playsim-vfr-scotland-central-dvd-problems/page-2#entry2724204 John
  6. Well the new DVD player seemed to be working except it had only installed half of disc 1 after 6 hours. At one one point I was told there were 612 hours to go. Fortunately I revisited this thread and found Rob's tip. I started again and now it's installing like rocket. So many, many thanks Rob for your tip and null points for Playsims and Flightstore for their lack of help. At the rate the install was previously going it would have been quicker for me to get in the car and drive from south west London to Skye. John
  7. I still have not succeeded in installing this. My first attempt threw up several error code 13 messages. The install then had lots of default scenery areas. I then tried copying the DVD contents to a hard disk and installing from there, unfortunately I had the same result. I then checked the bgl sequence to see which were missing and tried extracting from the CAB files, this improved the coverage but was not totally successful. As I write I have just taken delivery of a new Samsung DVD drive, fingers crossed! John
  8. For your entertainment....... John
  9. Last time we went to Elgol we had a week of cloudless skies! Fingers crossed. We've just been walking in the mountains of Mallorca so at least we've had some fabulous weather already. On a Flightsim note, I'm really looking forward to Horizon VFR's release of the rest of Scotland so I can revisit the west coast and islands with guaranteed blue skies. John

  21. Try parking the cursor in the top left hand corner of the screen when you're not using it.John
  22. I thought I'd give it one last go. I set it all up using the 2D panel including setting the heading to runway heading. I then changed to the VC for take off to find the heading knob and the numbers in the heading window whizzing round at top speed uncontrollably along with the heading line on the ND. No amount of clicking in either VC or 2D would stop it. I just deleted the whole thing, the NGX is just too good. John
  23. So have real life pilots ever seen this message and if so, what then?John
  24. After a recommendation in another post http://forum.avsim.net/topic/344790-g3ddll-workaround/ I put the following lines in my fsx.cfg to try to avoid crashes in PNW. // To show alerts or areas, set to = 1// To hide alerts or areas, set to = 0// Alert for missing texturesShowMissingTextureAlert=1// Alert for missing objectsMissingLibraryAlert=1// Render Trigger areas as visible boxesShowTriggers=1I then got the following error messages as I loaded the NGX Failed to load texture: $NGXCABINLIGHTFailed to load texture:GAUGEFIFTEEN I was initially thrown by this as I had also installed the latest hotfix but after removing those lines all was well. I do see the first texture in the texture.common folder and an entry referencing it in the panel.cfg but no sign of the other texture. All is working well but I'm slightly puzzled. John
