March 28, 201214 yr Hi.I just installed patch SP1c after not trying the NGX for a while due to FPS issues. To my surprise, the mouse FPS issue where FPS will drop when the mouse cursor appears - is still there. This problem makes the NGX unplayable for me, as it drops FPS from 20fps with no mouse, to about 13fps with the mouse on-screen.I had this problem with ifly 737, and decided to try out the NGX because of the problem...only to find it has the same problem. To be honest I did not expect this from PMDG. Will it be fixed? Thanks John doe
March 28, 201214 yr I didn't ever notice anything like this. March 28, 201214 yr Author Well I made this video a while back with the ifly 737 a while ago: (put on 720p, cursor is top-mid of screen, fps is top left) It's 100% the same with the ngx John doe
March 28, 201214 yr No developer can do anything against it - it is a FSX limitation. So, it is really not the fault of PMDG...

March 28, 201214 yr A search of the wider AVSIM forum should reveal that this is indeed an FSX problem. All aircraft have it, but you will notice it more with more taxing planes like the NGX.The workaround is to move the cursor off screen (if in windowed mode) or park it on the dot in the top left corner. Of course, the FPS drop will still happen when you have to move the mouse. Regards, PD

However this is particularly annoying because I need to use the mouse to fix all sorts on final where FPS is already the lowest AND the point where I need the FPS the most (couldn't care less about FPS on autopilot or even taxi).I can live with 2fps drop but I've seen 19-20fps going to 12-13 fps which is unacceptable to be just put away as 'minor bug, can't fix'. March 28, 201214 yr I have a drop of to 2 fps with the mouse pointer on. From 20 to about 18. I don't know why you have such a big drop. However, it isn't a minor bug, it is a major bug. However PMDG didn't made it. It was Microsoft. You can notice this FPS drops even in the default airplanes, however due to the lack of much clickspots it isn't that noticable as it is in the NGX. The only company who could fix it is Lockheed Martin in P3D. FSX will have this problem until its end, because Aces Studios were closed before they were able to fix it. So, please don't blame PMDG for it, I belive they are doing their best. John Rubens

March 28, 201214 yr Author To be fair to PMDG though, if the rig in your sig is what you are flying with, then you realy can,t expect not to have FPS issues. You're kidding right? Without the FPS problem I would be able to fly the NGX just fine (20fps..) John doe
March 28, 201214 yr Turn your settings way down then, im sure you would find some kind of config where youre able to fly the plane on short final with fps drop Johan Pettersen
March 28, 201214 yr I have seen this in many planes. In Carenados twins it also drops 5-10 fps. So nothing new and not the NGX. I always park the mouse at the bottom(running in a window) or take up the FMC somewhere in the middle. After some fiddling with the MCP during Climb or App just move it on top of the FMC. Nothing to do, seen this for several years in these more hifi airplanes. By the way iFly 737 have I thrown into the bin forever, after running PMDGs for a while I fired up iFlybut after 20 min I aborted the flight and deleted it. Junk compared to PMDGs. PMDG really is the State of the art and I have already put money a side for the 747 Ver2 and the 777. March 29, 201214 yr You're kidding right? Without the FPS problem I would be able to fly the NGX just fine (20fps..)No i,m not kidding. I seriously doubt that you would not get significant FPS drop on approach into or departure out of many "default airports. KJFK, KLAX, KSEA etc, etc. Not to mention if you want a bit of AI and maybe a little cloud. What i am trying to tell you is, that you can't expect to enjoy the detail and realism provided by this magnificent simulation (PMDG 737NGX) without expecting a demand on your system and then blame it on the dev. Rick Hobbs
March 29, 201214 yr Author The drop in FPS is not from the demand of this magnificant simulations, but because the mouse cursor is on the screen. But if this really a FSX issue, I'm not blaming PMDG.I've just never noticed it before, not with PMDG 747 or A2A simulations 377 (also fairly heavy a/c). I will load them up later and see if they also have the problem John doe
