attitude freeze

Featured Replies

After much testing, for some reason when activating opus my aircraft freeze when I remove my hands from the stick eg, a 60 deg angle of bank will stay there BUT the aircraft doesn't turn, it just flys along happily whilst tilted, same with climb and descend. The jets are not to badly affected, its just thr GA stuff

Is this a known issue? I find it hard to believe myself but disconnecting opus causes the planes to function normally. Any ideas whats going on?

Turn OFF the Bump Aircraft 3DOF option and if necessary increase the Bump Aircraft Delay Factor. These options can be found in the DHM dialog.

3DOF was already off but I increased the bump ADF and switched dynamic head movement from light to heavy and it appears to be solved :-)

So I can only select light or heavy in DHM? bit confused about that

It is described in the LC manual. Light or Heavy selects different sets of accelerometer data. One set of accelerometer data recorded on board a Light Aircraft (piston engines, Europa XS) the other sets recorded on a Heavy Aircraft (jet engines, B737-800).

Select Light or Heavy to match your aircraft and engine type, turn OFF the 3DOF Bump Aircraft option, and then set the Delay Factor to 2 or more. Increase the delay factor until your aircraft sim is happy with the settings.

You're welcome. I have actually turned the 3DOF option OFF by default now and let users enable it manually to see if the aircraft sim will handle it. That might help others in the future.

Hi Stephen, the problem resurfaced again so I upgraded my Beta version to the current one where the DHM options are completely grayed out so cant change anything any way

When I fly the aerosoft twin otter in particular I don't need the auto pilot because the attitude never changes after I set it and sure enough its back to normal after opus is turned off.

Strangely it doesnt effect PMDG jets

If the General DHM options are greyed out then they are irrelevant because you have Live Camera enabled. You must disable the 3DOF option in the camera views DHM instead. The PMDG aircraft sim software can handle 3DOF turbulent motions, some other aircraft sim software can't. I test mostly with the Lancair Legacy and the PMDG 737NGX, both of which handle 3DOF and zero Delay Factor extremely well.

Stephen, that problem is now solved however i have another :-(

The sim has a 1 or 2 second pause every minute or so and I always thought that was a problem with FSX but It goes away when OPUS is turned off.

Any ideas? its not a game changer in any way but would be nice to get rid of it.

Opus injects detailed weather making FSX work harder. Make sure you use the Default size of Opus theme, in fact best set all defaults and then let Opus adjust them automatically. Also if your FSX is sharing the drive with Opus you may have to turn off the Weather map which could cause FSX to pause during a weather update but at no other times. Finally, if at all possible install FSX on its own dedicated SSD so it never has to wait when accessing data of disk.

Also try turning off High Priority in the OpusFSX server config since this can cause pausing sometimes.
