Hi Ron. If I understand correctly... Yes you can do anything you want in regard to scenery.  So do you mean copy the "scenery.cfg" and edit it or actually copy over all the scenery files?  You of course can do both and just edit the scenery.cfg file to match the correct locations for the scenery you copied over.  There are some tricks and bits you need to be concerned about depending upon which scenery package you have.

Is your FSX on a separate drive? Or root C:?  If your FSX is on a separate drive then you may not need to reinstall much.  But you also need to be concerned about any addon planes you have as well especially some commercial addons.

I have ported over my entire FSX to new computers with minimal reinstall of anything.  I posted my method some time ago when the topic came up...you might find it by looking up my posts.  Basically it involved doing a fresh install of fsx using your disks, including acceleration if you have it.  Then if your FSX is on another location just use a fsx registry fix tool to reassign the FSX.EXE to the old (other drive) location.

Depending upon what sceneries you have, some are located in the addon scenery folder others from commercial venders are often located in their own folder under the name of the vender.

Please describe your setup, where is your FSX located?  And some idea on scope of your FSX and its addons.
