November 1, 201312 yr Hello all, I was flying from VHHH to CYYZ on ACA016. as i was cruising at FL310 doing Mach .850 (i dont pay for the gas:P) Flying AP, LNAV and VNAV. I noticed that i have a tailwind of 77 knots which was not directly coming from behind me. because of this the plane started banking left and right heavily. when i cleared all the weather from fsx it went back to normal (no banking). So the AP overreacts by trying to correct for the winds. can this be a bug with the plane? I had the same problem a few days back when on approach to EGLL. the same thing happened. i took manual control of the AC and landed safely. can anyone shed some light on the banking problem with the winds? any encounters? RGS,

November 1, 201312 yr Author Steady winds won't cause a problem, only shifting winds. Do you have wind smoothin on? (FSUIPC) I use REX but the winds werent shifting. FSUIPC is unregistered so i guess this is not an option?
November 1, 201312 yr I have FSUIPC registered so can't say for sure, but I think wind smoothing does come with the unregistered version too. Take a look and let us know how you get on with that if it's there. Jordan Forrest
November 1, 201312 yr I experienced this yesterday for the first time I also have a licence copy of FSUIPC and the wind smoothing option is on I had a tail wind and the plane was trying to over correct. When I planned for the flight I picked random payload short flight for fuel and I was using AS2012 for weather around 4000 feet it started... at first I thought it was a strong winds too I had strong tail winds so I had to select a heading hold and straighten the plane out. The only thing I did different for this flight is I Did not takeoff right away I was sitting on the ground for at least 30 min, I think I seen a post where if you are sitting on the ground for A while it might affect the performance but I'M not sure.
November 1, 201312 yr Commercial Member I am pretty sure this is old news, I have been dealing with this through tech support for a long time now. My personal opinion is if you have got this far into flight simulation then a registered version of fsuipc, correct wind smoothing and a good knowledge of your weather programs functions/settings are essential to find a balance that works for you. I should add the bulk of my work was with FS9, From what I read around here the same goes for FSX. Rob Prest
