November 1, 201312 yr Is there a way you can limit the cloud layers during real time data input? Meaning, if the data indicates broken clouds, just do one layer of broken clouds and do not render additional clouds above it. Especially flying over Seattle or up North around this time of the year, we have bunch of clouds including overcast layer and all these additional cloud texture rendering are eating up the frame rate on my FSX. November 1, 201312 yr Commercial Member Apart from the optional fog and mist effects and possible reported rain with no reported cloud layer, we do NOT add any cloud layers. If it says broken you get one single layer of broken cloud. Cirrus cloud is determined by you. Either enable or disable it and use the Auto option when enabled to let the LWE determine if the weather is changeable or containing likely weather fronts. All the cloud layers are reported in the METARs which can report all cloud layers up to FL200. Adding or removing cloud layers would not be RW weather. So I repeat we do not create additional layers, only what is reported in the METARs, of course you must take into consideration the wider picture, that is all the reported METARs in the area. FSX will bleed cloud across cell boundaries but not by much normally. Stephen Make sure you have no other source of weather enabled such as FSX RW weather, FSInn weather options, or some other weather engine. You could also think about reducing your cloud draw distance slightly or reducing the amount of AI traffic etc., that might help. Stephen :-)
November 1, 201312 yr Author Understood....... I only use OPUS for the weather engine and nothing else and I will try to lower my cloud draw distance which is max at this time. Although I have REX as my texturing but did not use the high ultra HD size so I can minimize my VAS on a high detail airport like FSDT. My AI is off on FSX, but enable at 25% on the Ultimate Traffic application side. Thanks, Kin M. (Klax)
November 1, 201312 yr Commercial Member Hi Kin We appreciate your support. I don't know much about Ultimate Traffic but I'm sure someone should be able to help you maximise your performance. I don't think I use HD clouds at all but use FEX soft and naturals. Good luck with your tuning there seems to be a wealth of advice on the web. Stephen :-)
