Electric trim runs too fast in FS9

Featured Replies

A couple of control problems have prevented me from fully transitioning to FS9, the worst of which is the fact that the pitch trim runs way too fast. This boils down to me only being able to make coarse changes in pitch -- unless I do it manually with the trim wheel. This seems to be related to the repeat speed for the switches that operate the trim. Only three positions are available; with the slider in the leftmost (slowest position) there is no repeat at all, but using the middle setting is to fast. I need an intermediate value, but the parameter that this sets in FS9.cfg doesn't seem to accept fractional values. In FS2002, I set this to the center position and it seemed just about right, so I never had to think about it again. Possibly changing the elevator_trim_effectivness value would mask the problem, but this would not really correct it and I would have to make the fix individually for eash aircraft.Does anyone else have this? More importantly does anyone know how to work around it? As always, any responses that result will be appreciated. ... Dave

This was a problem for me in FS2002 as well. I believe you have to change each aircraft.cfg file to adjust it. I don't remember which line it is. This has been bothering me as well but I haven't taken the time yet to fix it. I'm sure someone else will jump in with just the right instructions.Randall

Hi,If either one of you have the paid version of fsuipc then you can assign the the button or key that you want for the pitch trim in fsuipc. Then in the fsuipc.ini file add this line "ButtonRepeat=3". The higher the number the faster the key or button will repeat.Ed

Ed,I don't have the pay version of FSUIPC, but maybe I need it if that's the only good fix. Do you reckon this is what everyone else is doing or do most people not have the problem in the first place? Anyone else?I did look at FSUIPC in FS2002 and that value is not there, so I guess I didn't need to change it.Randall,I never had any difficulty with this in FS2002 as I said, so you might want to double check your flight control button assignments, and make sure the REPEAT slider is not at the right for the buttons that work the elevator trim.I appreciate both of your replies!

Hi dave,I've personally have had the pay version since it was released and can't work without it.I think if anyone is serious about programing keys and buttons then this is the program to use. I don't know of any other work around for this problem at all.I don't know exactly when Pete implimented this but I do know that it could be adjusted since version 3.30.http://forums.simflight.com/viewtopic.php?t=11676Ed

I'm not at my FS computer but I thought I remember an aircraft.cfg line regarding "trim effectiveness" or something.I do have a registered FSUIPC so I appreciate the hint! Thanks, that seems the way to go.Randall
