November 8, 201312 yr I really love OPUS FSX,a really great weather engine but one thing frustrates me in relation to the updating of the true weather at high altitude. When flying at cruising level say 39,000 the SPY gives me the various cloud layers and sometimes there could be a layer at say 33,000 but all I see is clear skies below until I click on 'Update Dynamic weather' whereby the true picture appears. I have my live weather updates based at every 10 minutes or 100 km's. However,I do not understand why I have to sometimes click on the Dynamic Update to get the weather back. Any feedback would be welcome. Michael Michael Broom
November 9, 201312 yr Commercial Member Please read our Using The Live Weather Engine topic which explains the cloud popping anomaly within FSX and how FSX drags cloud boundaries and layers along with it.You could also try turning off our Cloud Smoothing option in case its already ticked.Stephen

November 9, 201312 yr Commercial Member Many thanks, you've got the right idea with the update rate and distance, I use about the same but prefer 80km when flying the Lancair and like you between 100km and 160km when flying the NGX. Unfortunately nothing can stop FSX dragging the cloud layer along with it. It seems a lot better during the descent and approach most likely due to the extra updates and refreshes as the aircraft descends through different altitude zones and all the true and varied surface conditions are recovered. Very glad to hear you are enjoying OpusFSX, you'll have to get a ButtKicker next for those extra seat vibrations and bumps. Stephen :-)
