November 11, 201312 yr Hi! Yesterday I encountered a problem I have never seen before in NGX. I followed my pre flight flows just like I always do. I put both IRS's in NAV mode and entered my position in the fmc, entered my route and so on... I noticed that my IRS on my side was alligned and the map was showing without any problems. but for some reaseon the first officers IRS didnt seem to be alligned.. I thought that this would be ok, so I boarded my passengers and pushed back, then I noticed that I wasnt able to arm CMD A or CMD B. And also I didnt get my pink lines on my PFD... I took off and still wasnt able to start the autopilot and had to handfly the plane for a landing. The next flight after a FS restart I did the exact same flow and this time it worked without a problem. Could this have been a FS-related bug or is it something that I have done wrong?... (I am 100% sure that the IRS knobs where both in the NAV position the first time). This is not really a problem since it has only happened once, but Im still curious of what might have gone wrong. And WHAT can be done to solve the problem the next time it occurs:) The VNAN and LNAV mode armed just fine so it wasnt a "button related problem" And I also checked the FMC -menu and there were no active failures. /Niklas Eriksson Niklas Eriksson

In my experience from working help desk, and other troubleshooting roles, chances are, if it worked one time and not another, it was user error somewhere. Then again, there are also planes like the CRJ, which as the moniker "Reset Jet" for a good reason: A "Windows reboot" fixes most of the weird automation issues you get in it. Kyle Rodgers
November 12, 201312 yr Author Yes of course, thats why I was so confused about it... But since I was very careful to do exactly the same procedures... I might put this one to rest as a "reset FS issue" I was just curious if someone knows any "user error" that might cause the AP not to arm... If im out of trim or anything like that its more a "immidiate disconnect" but this was like the button didnt work /Niklas Niklas Eriksson
