December 11, 200421 yr Does anyone know if the terrain mesh advertised today on the AVSIM home page correct coastlines and in-land waterways? It's expensive and hard to justify based just on the screenshots but it might be worth considering if it corrects those two areas.
December 11, 200421 yr Hi there. I went to the website and checked out the screenshots they have http://www.gamershell.com/pc/fs_global_200...shots.html?id=2It didn't seem that good really. 16x better than FS9 default? It's hard to see that
December 11, 200421 yr >Does anyone know if the terrain mesh advertised today on the>AVSIM home page correct coastlines and in-land waterways? No. Terrain mesh like FS Global addresses elevation only. There are smaller packages that also correct shorelines (e.g., Holger Sandmann's various sceneries). And there are a couple of packages in the works that will correct shorelines throughout the United States: one by the author of GA-Traffic and one by the author of USA Roads. But neither has announced a release date yet.
December 11, 200421 yr Generally speaking, I wouldn't expect just mesh to correct shorelines, etc. One of those screenshots is meteor crater in Arizona. I don't think it shows at all with the default mesh, so it would be an improvement. Here's the same view with FSGenesis 32m mesh.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/100206.jpg
December 12, 200421 yr Moderator I can't really see any difference between Justin's FREE 38m mesh for Meteor Crater at least... :) Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
December 12, 200421 yr Author Hi,I bought FS Global some weeks ago. I think it is not any better or worse than any 74 m mesh from FSGenesis. The 38m US mesh looks of course much better. The main reason I bought this is that it covers almost the whole world. I like fly everywhere not just in my hometown. If you consider this coverage you get more for your money with FS Global otherwise FSGenesis mesh is fine.Alex Alex' Projects: Little Navmap
