December 12, 200421 yr I'm coming here before I reinstall FS9. Here is the situation. When I try and start FS9 I get the startup screen and then it disappears..... that's it! I'm not new to this but I can't figure out what's going on. The last thing I installed was the SAS DC9 from the Sweden pilot, (know which one I mean?) Anyway I've uninstlled it but still no FS9. I thought, well, no big deal, it will give me a clean slate,,,,, then I started looking at what I needed to backup and I got scared. Any help would be greatly appreciated.B Bjorkman CFII
December 12, 200421 yr Hi,I feel your pain!!!!I don't have any idea what might be the problem, but this may help.RENAME (don't COPY) the FS9.cfg to something like FS9orig.cfgThen try to start FS9 and it should establish a new default FS9.cfg when it trys to start. If this does work, remember to compare the newly created FS9.cfg with FS9orig.cfg so you could then update the new FS9.cfg with any changes you may have previously made. Needless to say some of those previous changes may have caused the original problem, but at least you'll know you can get going again by starting up without FS9.cfg and go from there. If that didn't work then remember to DELETE FS9.cfg and RENAMEFS9orig.cfg to FS9.cfg to bring back your original FS9.cfg file.Good luck,
December 12, 200421 yr Try and delete your FS9.cfg file which is here:C:Documents and SettingsDenis Michael BrownApplication DataMicrosoftFS9The C: may be different on your computer if you installed it to a different disc drive.Erase FS9.cfg or copy it to somewhere else and when u start FS9 - the prog will make a new default one.If you have only just installed FS9 then put in disk1 and tell it to unstall FS9. If you have installed any addons then the uninstall prog will not delete them. Will only delete the original files. You will have to delete the fltsim folder yourself. If you wish to keep any of the files you have added - some may work after reinstall and some may not, then rename the orig flt sim folder to whatever u wish and "play" around with it after reinstall.
December 12, 200421 yr That was it, thanks guys. Luckily I had a copy of my FS9 config file saved for reinstalls. Thanks again for the reminder.B Bjorkman
