December 13, 200421 yr What is the correct seat height of default Learjet 45? As it stands right now, it is set too low for me, and I hardly see the runway on approach. I know you can adjust the seat higher. However, realistically, how much runway can you see on a real Learjet 45 on final?
December 14, 200421 yr Author As much as you want to. It's all abouwt personal preference. I personally like to sit really close to the instrument panel in any of the a/c I fly. In transport category aircraft, there are "sights" with which to line up to give you the proper perspective (those little red or orange ball thingys that are on the center post). So it all depends on those based on your height.Short answer to your question: You should be able to see the runway until it disappears underneath the nose of the a/c not the panel.Hope that helped in some small way.cheers
December 14, 200421 yr Some of the larger transport aircraft have reccomendations for just that in their manuals.I used to really get thrown off when I started in the Sundowners because it had kind of a bubble type canopy that had really good visibility and the airplane sat pretty much straight on the tarmac. I had to adjust my configuration (a/c itself vs viewpoint) a little on landing because I could see a lot more of the outside than what I was used to. It's kind of like taking up the same sight picture while shooting an M16 or you could be off a little (or alot). You want to do the same thing while landing and/or transitioning to the flare and focus on one point near the end of the runway and keep tracking straight for it. These techniques may differ slightly from one pilot to the next depending on how you were taught. Now if your talking about how high in the sim you should be above the RWY and whether the model is not correct, then I haven't helped a bit...lol. I can call my friend though and find out the exact height if you like. :-) Jeff D. December 14, 200421 yr Maybe my question wasn't clear enough. Sorry about that. It is just on the Lear during approach. I am trying follow the GS as closely as possible and at the mean time maintaining about 140 of speed, the default head point is just not high enough to see the runway. Is this realistic representation in RL or Microsoft is trying its best to put all the gauges on the panel?
December 14, 200421 yr Full flaps and gear down also? Jeff D. Nielsen (KMCI) https://www.twitch.tv/pilotskcx https://discord.io/MaxDutyDay VENGEANCE a8200 Gaming PC: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D, GeForce RTX 5080, 64GB DDR5, 4TB (2TB/2TB) M.2 SSD, Win11 Pro
December 14, 200421 yr Hmm...haven't flown the Lear but a few times, but I'm told it's a little off and needs some tweaking. We are going to working on just that in the near future. Jeff D. December 14, 200421 yr Author Yes, I think the AOT is a little high on the Lear on the approach. But realistically, you should not lose sight of the runway on the lear until it is just about to pass underneath the nose. If you can't see the runway on approach, you'll want to adjust the height because it's either off, the flight model is off, you're too slow on the approach, or a combination of all. Adjusting the seat hieght will make this work best. Hope you get er' figured out.regards
