EZDOC - HELP

Featured Replies

After downloading I went to  FSX. I go to the drop down menu . It's not there. My FSX is in the (X86 ) Program. EZDOC was installed in the (86) Program, NOT in the FSX Folder. Does that make a difference? I was not given a choice where to download it during the install. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Why not use the other tread you started about this product? http://forum.avsim.net/topic/426064-ezdoc-install/

Anyway, as jimburke said in that other thread: It does not matter where Ezdok is installed, it does install into its own folder, and it's supposed to do so - I'm sure there is a reason for this, but I don't know it.

By "drop down menu" I suppose you mean the menu bar in the FSX window? If Ezdok doesn't show up there, it could be that 1) there is no entry for it in the exe.xml (C:\User\<you>\Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX) or that file has somehow gotten corrupted, 2) it's set to "disabled" in the exe.xml or 3) the path of the Ezdok.exe (or whatever it's actually named) isn't entered correctly there (I doubt that, though).

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="WINDOWS-1252"?>
-<SimBase.Document version="1,0" Type="Launch"><Descr>Launch</Descr><Filename>dll.xml</Filename><Disabled>False</Disabled><Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad>-<Launch.Addon><Name>EZdok camera addon</Name><Disabled>false</Disabled><Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\EZCA\EZCA.exe</Path></Launch.Addon></SimBase.Document,          This is whatI found there, is that ok? If not , then what?  I see it's set to disabled, what should I do?

Check the file: The entry itself seems to be OK, but it needs to be in the exe.xml, you're showing the dll.xml, but since Ezdok relies on an exe rather than a dll, the entry is useless there.

EDIT: I just saw you wrote it's disabled - actually it's not: <Disabled>false</Disabled> means that the statement "disabled" is false, i.e. it is enabled.

Here's the dll.xml     <?xml version="1.0" encoding="WINDOWS-1252"?>
-<SimBase.Document version="1,0" Type="Launch"><Descr>Launch</Descr><Filename>dll.xml</Filename><Disabled>False</Disabled><Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad>-<Launch.Addon><Name>ObjectFlow_KJAC.dll</Name><Disabled>False</Disabled><ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad><Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\ORBX\FTX_NA\FTX_AA_KJAC\Scenery\ObjectFlow_KJAC.dll</Path></Launch.Addon>-<Launch.Addon><Name>Object Placement Tool</Name><Disabled>True</Disabled><ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad><Path>..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Mission Creation Kit\object_placement.dll</Path></Launch.Addon>-<Launch.Addon><Name>Traffic Toolbox</Name><Disabled>True</Disabled><ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad><Path>..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Traffic Toolbox SDK\traffictoolbox.dll</Path></Launch.Addon>-<Launch.Addon><Name>Visual Effects Tool</Name><Disabled>True</Disabled><ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad><Path>..\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Special Effects SDK\visualfxtool.dll</Path></Launch.Addon>-<Launch.Addon><Name>FSUIPC 4</Name><Disabled>False</Disabled><Path>Modules\FSUIPC4.dll</Path></Launch.Addon>-<Launch.Addon><Name>FSCopilot</Name><Disabled>False</Disabled><Path>Modules\FSCopilot.dll</Path></Launch.Addon>-<Launch.Addon><Name>A2A Feel</Name><Disabled>False</Disabled><Path>Modules\A2A_Feel.dll</Path><DllStartName>module_init</DllStartName><DllStopName>module_deinit</DllStopName></Launch.Addon>-<Launch.Addon><Name>AccuFeelMenu</Name><Disabled>False</Disabled><ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad><Path>Modules\AccuFeelMenu.dll</Path></Launch.Addon></SimBase.Document>

OK, so it seems there is something really strange: Obviously, what you posted in post #3 is not the dll.xml file - although it says so, which is what makes your computer think it is, since it says

<Filename>dll.xml</Filename>

where it should actually read

<Filename>exe.xml</Filename>

Here's my advice: Make a backup copy of the exe.xml, open it with word pad or editor, change that line in question (i.e. replace "dll" by "exe"), and see if the menu entry in FSX appears again.

What is a bit strange, though, is the fact that this line seems to have been changed by someone/something. I have no idea what program would such a thing...

I hope this helps, otherwise I'm out of ideas.

I made a copy of the exe.xml , put it in word pad , changed the dll to exe., opened it up and no change. The dll is still there. This is the first time I have ever done this. After I made the change in notepad I clicked on" save as" and from there I copied and made a new folder where the old one was and renamed it exe.xml. I don't know if that was the correct procedure but this is where it stands.

Any ideas?

Try uninstalling and re-installing it, run the Aircraft Configurator and try again.  See if it produces the same result.

Are you getting an error when you shut down FSX?

There's no error when I shut down FSX. This was a re-install from Flight One and I remember not using my Serial key. I chose option two, I don't think it was needed.
