November 21, 201312 yr Sorry for posting this in the wrong forum previously... Ive done some internet searches but still no positive answer. I have an HD tv id like to hook my PC up to for flight sim. My video card only has a DVI out and my tv only has VGA and HDMI inputs. Can I use a normal DVI to HDMI adapter cord or do i need some sort of converter. Will this work? Thanks for any help at all.
November 21, 201312 yr A DVI to hdmi cable will work fine. The only thing that wont go over this cable will be the audio that hdmi can carry but DVI does not. So just hook it up and it should work. You may have to adjust overscan to turn it off if your card treats it as a TV and your image is smaller than the screen.
November 21, 201312 yr Author Thanks a lot. Would there be a way to get audio too or will i stick with headphones or speakers hooked up to my computer?
November 21, 201312 yr To get the audio to your tv you could use an audio cable. your computer has the standard audio out jack and your tv will have the same audio in jack, usually. You might have to go and buy one if you dont have one lying around. It;s the same 3.5mm stereo jack thats on the end of your headphones but one on each end.
