November 23, 201312 yr This weekend I have to built an FS pc for a friend . He is able to buy a second hand 3960X and asked me if that is better than a 4770k. He has mainly photo scenery with detailed payware airports. What do you think ? Here a comparison between the 4770 - 3960 http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18527600 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0
November 23, 201312 yr Hi Gerard Saab340 have done tests , for scenery the loading times seems to be better. I have test a 4960X ( have only for a week) it was a powerful toy not as fast as the 4770k in fsx ( fps not load times). I shall build a new system for P3D v2 with a 4930k waiting for the mobo (rampage IV Black Edition) hope i get it soon. http://

January 15, 201412 yr Hi Hasse, Even using the Black Edition icw a 4930k you probably will achieve the highest of results. Keep us posted... Done the first tests with the Asus Rampage IV Black Edition, only Tweaked the mem and CPU a little and run Vantage CPU tests. Watercooling on CPU and GPU, with a little more tweaks it run 5.0Ghz and mem 2800mhz cl9. Shall run some Fsmark11 and Cloud tests to compare it with my 4770k and 4670k, but most tweak the system more. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/54475361/TItan%20OC%20R4BE/R4BE.png http://
January 15, 201412 yr Here's a link to someone who had a 3930K. He gives some insight on the performance between the 6 core chip and a 4 core chip. Specifically with FSX, nothing else. Jeff Thomson
