November 27, 201312 yr I have to say that I am a big P3D fan and have used P3D Version 1.4 and have been extremely pleased with it. So it should come as no surprise that I was sitting at my computer Sunday night waiting to download Version 2.0. After an incredibly long download, 22 hours I installed P3D and starting playing with it. My initial reaction? Disappointment. Big disappointment. I read different forums and saw mixed reviews. I have an Intel I7 920 2.66 CPU, unclocked and a brand new GeForce GTX 760. After making various adjustments with sliders I felt defeated and shut down my computer for the night. I read the forums today for some insight into what was going on with this new version. Some people were ecstatic, others were upset. How could there be so much disparity in what people were experiencing? Well I found the answer. MAKE SURE YOU ENABLE AERO IN WINDOWS 7. This one change changed this from a disappointment to an incredible flight sim. I went from 20 fps to 60 fps with default settings just by enabling Aero So I started playing with the sliders. After 30 minutes of gradual adjustments I hade every slider maxed out with the exception of the shadows and traffic. Flying around Honolulu with FTX Global installed I never got less than 30 FPS and often went to 45 FPS. Then I changed location to New York City. I added traffic to 30% on everything. Never went less than 20FPS. The only way I could bring it to its knees was to add shadows and traffic to the max. This then decreased to 15FPS with only minor stutters. THIS SOFTWARE ROCKS. If this doesn't convince you yet just be patient. There are some issues that need to be addressed. They will be as many people are working diligently to get their observations to LM. There will be patches I am sure to address some of these issues. The Migration tool is now available for Version 2.0 and that will be my next thing to try. But for me I am sold. If you asked me yesterday I would have told you I was sticking with Version 1.4. But as of today it is Version 2.0 all the way.
