November 28, 201312 yr Shalom and greetings all my pals,Does any owner of payware Virtavia C-17 Cargomaster III know any step by step guide on how to start engines of payware Virtavia C-17 Cargomaster III, please? I like to turn off the engines before starting flight by turning on engines.I tried to turn on the engines but could not figure out how although I managed to start engines 20 minutes later by guessing and pressing all imaginable buttons on the cockpit panel. LOL And flew it. It was nice flight.Yes Virtavia C-17 Cargomaster III comes with informative manual but it explains purpose of each button and gauge and does not tell how to start engines. So I would appreciate step by step guide how to start engines, please.By the way, does cockpit wipers every work for any of your Virtavia C-17 Cargomaster IIIs? I bought new latest version that should have working window wipers. Thanks,Aharon
November 28, 201312 yr Have you tried the inflight checklists yet for the engine start procedure? What happened to AVSIM
November 28, 201312 yr Author Olli4740, I think the checklist procedure for starting engines is not correct I tried that and nothing happened. During my first flight I kept pressing ctl-E for many minutes until engines start But I do not want LAME clt-E command to start engines. I want to press buttons to start engines. Aharon
November 28, 201312 yr So your checklist does not show this: "Engine Start: Set parking brake (center console, left side). Check throttles are at IDLE. Turn on the Master Battery switch on overhead electrical panel. Check WACAP on overhead for messages. Check Fuel Quantity is sufficent. Set an MFD to display ENG. Turn on NAV lights (overhead console). Turn on ANTI-COLLISION lights (overhead console). Turn on ENGINE IGNITION (overhead console). Press FUEL USED button (main panel, Total Fuel gauge). Press and hold APU Starter switch to 'start'. Wait until 100% RPM reached and release to 'run' position (overhead console). Turn on ENG1 Starter switch (overhead console). Check ENG1 RPM stabilized (MFD). If not already on, turn on Generator 1 (overhead console). Turn on ENG1 Bleed Air and ENV 1 & 2 Packs (overhead console). Turn off APU by right-clicking APU switch (overhead console). Repeat above for remaining engines. Turn on ENG4 Bleed Air (overhead console). NOTE: For simplified procedure, use Ctrl+E for auto engine start. " That's the Virtavia procedure instead of Ctrl+E. What happened to AVSIM
November 28, 201312 yr EDIT: It doesn't start that way on my PC, either! :( I tried a few more steps like APU bleed on, but it didn't help, either: The pneumatics panel works only partially; usually it takes configuring the bleed switches, Isolation valves, packs etc., but that doesn't seem to be possible here: What happened to AVSIM
November 28, 201312 yr Author I think I got it figured out. Instead of clicking on red engine start buttons on overhead panel, I have to click it AND DRAG IT DOWN OR OUT. I finally started engines in matter of few minutes instead of 20 minutes. I hope from now on, the engine start will be smooth!! Regards, Aharon
November 29, 201312 yr Author Problem solved!!! One thing I would like to tell all of you. The tech support service of Virtavia has been outstanding, impressive, and very fast!!! Have never seen such so impressive and fast tech support service in any flight sim software!! And they are open on Thanksgiving!! Wow Aharon

Now that you're mentioning it: That procedure is described in the manual (not in the C/Ls) and it only works from the VC (you can't operate the switches that way from the 2D popup). Thanks for reporting back, Aharon! What happened to AVSIM
November 29, 201312 yr Hi Aharon, I purchased the FS9 version and it is now one of my favourite aircraft to fly.. To enhance it I also purchased the ISG Avionics package where you can also get a panel.cfg to amend the multi function ND to show Map view. You also get an FMC and CDU which integrates really well as popups.. Heres the link if you have not seen it already..and a pic if it works when I post it.. Click on the photo to get a better view.. The panel config files can be downloaded from the 2nd link.. It aslo works in the VC PS. ISG also can be used to re-fit a host of aircraft with up modern navigation avionics.. great value. http://www.isgsim.com/ http://www.isgsim.com/?page=panel_library⊂=retro_virt_c17 FS9 Driver
November 29, 201312 yr Author Hoochy, Thanks for tip but I am happy with panels of Virtavia C-17 Cargomaster!!! Olli4740, I actually kept clicking on engine start buttons on VC panel but I did not realize I had to DRAG IT DOWN to start it. You have to make effort to keep dragging it down until you see engine indicators showing engines start. Regards, Aharon
November 29, 201312 yr Hi Aharon, The best thing about the ISG is that you can just change the Panel.cfg file back to the original and have the original setup. I like to fly using charts sometimes so that is useful for that.. Here is a photo of my C17 at Duxford airfield... Click for bigger view... It makes a nice desktop background  FS9 Driver
