  1. Hi . Link to video below of my TH2Go digital edition setup in FS9. Zoom rate is .3 on main visuals. No stretching really. Still a great piece of kit.
  2. #Greenspirit new Aer Lingus Livery for Irish Rugby Team. Good photos on Twitter and Google. Check it out Wilco A320 repaint would be nice !! All the best John
  3. Indeed, it seems to descend in a direct line where a turn to the West, East or South would have made sense. If the aircraft could not turn then this would point to a control issue such as a hydraulics failure or smoke/fire issues. The descent is about 3,000ft per minute which is not a dive by any means. RIP to Pax and Crew

  6. Hi, A much better option for FS9 is the remote flight App that works on iPad and iPhone. You run the remote flight server process on your desktop and connect via your wifi. Excellent performance and high quality map and interface. Rgds, John http://remoteflight.net/remote-flight-map http://remoteflight.net/remote-flight-map-hd
  7. Hi All, Just a quick question. How long did it take DXTFixerX V2 to complete the process on your FS9 root drive.. I can run it against individual folders no problem, but when I ran it against the root it was going all night and seemed to hang .. I do have a lot of aircraft and scenery so I guessed it would take some time but just wondering about your experience with it. All the best, John
  8. I use Active Sky Evolution and its a decent addon. I would recommend the addons below as they have helped me make my FS9 look the best its ever been.. My Texture sets are a mix of Real Environment Pro V2 with Dutch Rural Landscape enabled Zinerteks Ultimate Water, Zinerteks Night Environment 2010 Zinerteks World Environment 2012 (Clouds Primarily) (You can also use the freeware High definition Environment (HDE V2) Clouds which are freeware) Zinerteks Ultimate Airport Environment Zinerteks Natural Tree Environment FS2004 Beetleprints Experience X for 3d Night Lighting (at Sparse or Normal Autogen levels) TaxiSigns HD by Flightsim tools Active Sky Evolution for Real Weather (Can cause a pause when loading new weather station data) Scenery Config Mgr (Really helps will adding/managing scenery) My setup is Intel i7 @ 2.8ghz 8gb Ram 2 x 500gb HD Nvdia GTX 550ti Matrox Triplehead to Go (3 x 24" Dell monitors + 1 19") Rgds, John
  9. Hi Pete, Fairly sure this is Ljubljana Airport in Slovenia.. Best of luck.. John
  10. Hi, Stutters can be a symptom of a texture problem (Scenery, Aircraft or AI Aircraft) (1) empty texture folders in Addon Scenery (2) textures without Alpha channels (Aircraft & Scenery) (3) large file sized scenery textures. For problem 1 you can use an application called Remove Empty Directories (Link below) http://www.jonasjohn.de/red.htm For Problem 2 you can use dxtfixerx (in my experience its best to use this folder by folder as it can take ages if you run it against the entire FS directory. I just use it on addon scenery and aircraft folders. http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=187538&CatID=genutilsr For Problem 3 I use Texture Doctor (Payware $9.95) This allows you to convert .bmp files into DXT 1 or DXT 3. (DXT5 is FSX only). http://www.flightsimtools.com/texture_doctor Another couple of tips that I use. In FSUIPC Visibility Tab you can reduce the distance you can see at high altitudes. I set max vis to 4000 and it gets rid of any cartoony terrain issues I set my Terrain_Default_Radius in fs9.cfg to a high setting (need to check the number later and get back to you) but I think this sets the distance at which terrain is loaded. You can still get some blurries / stutters when approaching an area with a big payware airport that will use lots of memory to load. What I have done to try and alleviate this is to use Scenery Config Editor to only load the airports that I am departing, arriving and maybe alternating to. To do this easily you must put each scenery area into a country group and a continent group. you can then easily disable (not delete) a continent in one click and reenable it later easily when needed. I have over 1,000 scenery folders and this realy helps to add, prioritise, enable, disable or delete them. http://sourceforge.net/projects/fs-sceditor/ I also have my cloud settings as follows 0, 0, 90 (in FS settings menu) My Texture sets are a mix of Real Environment Pro V2 with Dutch Rural Landscape enabled Zinerteks Ultimate Water, Zinerteks Night Environment 2010 Zinerteks World Environment 2012 (Clouds Primarily) (You can also use the freeware High definition Environment Clouds which are freeware) Zinerteks Ultimate Airport Environment Zinerteks Natural Tree Environment FS2004 Beetleprints Experience X for 3d Night Lighting (at Sparse or Normal Autogen levels) TaxiSigns HD by Flightsim tools Active Sky Evolution for Real Weather (Can cause a pause when loading new weather station data) My setup is Intel i7 @ 2.8ghz 8gb Ram 2 x 500gb HD Nvdia GTX 550ti Matrox Triplehead to Go (3 x 24" Dell monitors + 1 19") I have limited my FPS to 26 and get this most of the time using the iFly 737 @ most airports and heavy weather. Drops to about 20 in really heavy scenery , cumulous clouds) Hope that helps. If you already have tried these things then apologies for the long winded msg. All the best, John
  11. Hi Dirk, UK2000 have 25% off. Just got the new Prestwick Extreme for £12.75. Includes FS9 & FSX & P3D versions.. Great airports !! http://www.uk2000scenery.com/newsite/default.htm Rgds, John
  12. Payware DBS Airport GPS works in 2004. I have it and it works well. http://www.dbsim.com/aptgps/dbs.aptgps.htm
  13. Hi, You could do a system restore. That will reset your system to an earlier date. Normally works well.. Click on the windows button and just type restore and you will see the system restore option appear in the menu area. Good luck John
  14. Very interesting to hear that you are running all of fs9 on external drive.... Did you just copy the fs9 directory to the drive and reset the registry. Does it affect any 3rd party addons that you have?? . Rgds john
  15. Hi all, Just came across these great freeware airports for Syria. Kudos to the Syriasim team. I downloaded and installed these. No FPS his and great quality... http://www.syriasim.org/
  16. Hi There, co route is short for Company Route. To enable this you can use an external flight planner like FSBuild. You can setup FS Build to save flight plans in many formats for many addons. For Example you create a flight plan from EIDW to EGLL (Dublin to Heathrow). To enable this flight plan in the FMC you type EIDWEGLL and it should load the full flight into the FMC (Assuming you have setup FSBuild correctly). Route Save is used if you manually enter a route and want to save it for future use. It should save into the same location that FSBuild uses. I think for Wilco Products its Flight Sim Root Folder\feelThere\CustomDB but I may be incorrect.. Here is a link to a tutorial that allows you to use vroute as a free flight planner. Its for FSX but may work in FS9 if you get the directory right. http://www.vroute.net/content/view/99/41
  17. Hi There, I recently was suffering CTDs on flights from KBOS to EDDF and noticed that the CTD happened at the same location in Canada (ie) very close to Deer Lake Airport CYDF. I had an freeware addon for this airport. Anyhow I used Scenery Config Mgr to disable (not delete) all my Canadian Scenery and tried the flight again with the same aircraft and active sky. No problem the flight went all the way to Frankfurt without a problem. I then went back into the Scenery Config Mgr and re-enabled all the Canada scenery except for the Deer Lake addon. Restarted FS to get the scenery reset and tried the flight again. No problem the flight went perfectly well. I tried another long haul in a totally different part of the world (Macau to Auckland) and all went well. If you have the Deer Lake Addon try disabling it and see if that helps.. You may have some other freeware issue but this one was my problem.. By the way I have used the 4gb patch on my fs9.exe, my active sky, fsbuild etc without any problem. I also run the FS9 using the 8 core tool which seems to spread the processor load. Rgds, John
  18. The Virtavia C-17 is excellent if you want to get your hands on one. I have added the ISG Avionics pack as well which is great...
  19. If you want payware I use HiFi's Active Sky Evolution. Excellent product alongside REX or Zinerteks World Environment for hidef clouds etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. My first flight sim was Night Flight on the Spectrum ZX80 back in 1978.. loaded by Tape Cassette and had a black screen with some dots for the runway and a couple of VORs.. FS9 is my favourite of all time !...
  21. a good free one is FSrealWX lite @ http://www.fsrealwx.net/ Looks like a V2 is coming soon.. Version 1 Version 2
  22. Great aircraft. If you are running a Triplehead as I am I have to load it up as follows or I get the circular mouse problem due to the resolution of 5760 x 1080. 1. Load the default Cessna in 2d panel in one screen only. 2. Change aircraft to PMDG 747 3. When 2d panel loads. Press W twice to unload the 2d panel. 4. Then you can change to VC and expand the image across the 3 screens and it will work fine. Do not load the 2d panel again. All the best
  23. Yep tried to find some but no luck,.. some desert textures would be cool,,
  24. Ok so I bought P3DV2... The good thing is that it is a far better product than FSX out of the box. I have an Intel i7 860 @ 2.80gHz, 8gb Ram, NVidia GTX550ti. Not Stellar but a good system nonetheless. On a single 24" Screen running medium settings I could get 20+ FPS and smooth flying with the standard aircraft in thunderstorm settings. Saitek Yoke & Pedals all functioned fine after resetting the axes and buttons.. Graphics are very good, Clouds and Water very good, so all round a satisfying experience. However, comparing it to my 4 Screen FS9 with all addons you can imagine and full VC immersion with the high end aircraft plus interaction with the iPAd apps such as Virtual CDU, Remote Flight Map, Radios, AP etc there really is no way I would switch from FS9 right now.. Maybe my next PC purchase will enable me to run P3D to the same level and then I might make the move. To be honest if someone like Orbx created a global ground texture pack for FS9 that would be the ultimate solution for all.. I run REX for Clouds, Zinertek Water, GE Pro v2 and with that its great. Screenshots below to show it in its glory. I will post some more later.... All the best, John
  25. Hi Aharon, The best thing about the ISG is that you can just change the Panel.cfg file back to the original and have the original setup. I like to fly using charts sometimes so that is useful for that.. Here is a photo of my C17 at Duxford airfield... Click for bigger view... It makes a nice desktop background
